1 assailant hit, 3 innocents hit = 75% miss rate based on casualties.

Shots missed might have been worse.

In business, mess up 3 times in 4 = FIRED for cause.

The Blue wall will prevent any justice like that, though.

You have absolutely no idea whether or not the shots missed. As far as we know they struck the guy and continued through him hitting someone else.

You are just making yourself look silly here.

If a non-leo fired that way they'd be facing serious charges.

Like I said yesterday in the original thread, the police shot all those people. When you turn your police force into a bunch of hired mercenaries they start acting like them.

True, and the NYPD has had some outrageously over the top actions in its recent history. 41 shots in a vestible, for instance.

They need a full, independent investigation of this incident.

And if that's the best they could do they need to be replaced. A gun is not a toy, so you don't just play with it hoping for the best. No second chances once the trigger is pulled.
Like you could do any better if you were in that chaotic situation. Armchair quarterback talk is cheap.

Of course, only on this forum does the apprehension and take down of an attacking murderer turn not into the fault of the murderer, but the fault of.... the police who stopped him.

This place is pathetic.

I suspect the fellow who got murdered would argue that he got hurt - y'know, if he was alive.

This is just an educated guess, but they are liable for anyone hit by bullet fragments, since the NYPD was acting in good faith, there will be no multi-million dollar judgements here.

And yes, one must gauge fragments. I went to college in NYC. That area is packed to the gills, and smart cops use tremendous restraint in such situations.
I don't care how good of a shooter you are, no one can tell where their bullet fragments will travel in a shooting, to suggest anything otherwise is nonsense.
