I watched the Weather Channel for hours and at no time
did they even mention the potential danger to nearby oil
and gas facilities or the economy... why?... because that
affects those way beyond the Gulf coast.

You must get a different Weather Channel feed than I do because I've seen a few reports on the oil platforms and refineries including estimates of how the supply chain may be effected. What more do you want them to say?
