It's funny that on this forum I see a lot of black people bashing. Calling black people lazy, voting democrat for handouts, needing affirmative action etc... Don't people realize that we also want the American dream? We want a nice car, nice job, good home and for our kids to go to good schools. It's a shame cause when a black person does something then it had to be illegal or some kind of affirmative action program to get them there.

We're not looking for a handout or an advantage were looking for equal rights, not more not less, equal.

Hopefully you won't vote for Barry Soweto.

I dont think many believe that Black people need Affirmative action. I for one feel they can get jobs on their own merit.I don't think most blacks are lazy either. Just as no race is inherently lazy. As for hand outs? It is human nature to take what is offered for free.
Equal rights are what you deserve and have. Unfortunately its the AL Sharptons who do not represent the majority of blacks tend to get the attention. They give everyone a bad impression and that is a shame.

You need to get rid of your leaders that perpetrate the image, then. It's up to you. You must change the perception from within.

Voting in lockstep for a man because he's black and calling everyone else a racist ain't gonna help what you're asking for.

Just like people who don't get a promotion or their friend didn't get that fire dept job & they find out a black person got it. They must of lowered the test or it had to be affirmative action.

Wonderful. I agree. Their are a few (actually, way too many) who give the black community a really bad rep. Too bad as it hurts those who really want to be productive and responsible.

The problem here is "we". This is the problem with the vast majority of arguments anywhere. People want to generalize everything.

"We" never all want the same thing. A large majority of blacks do want what you note. Just as a large majority of whites do. There are some blacks, just as there are some whites that have no desire to be productive members of society.

There is no "we" in these discussions.

I get accused of having all sorts of positions because I might hold a certain belief. People want to lump anyone that believes something in with their preconcieved ideas, true or not.

So Blacks all voted Obama because he's black? Who did the blacks vote for before him? I'll give you a hint he was a democrat. If Herman Cain was running do you think the black vote would be 50/50?

Sharp ton and Jackson do a good job of hilighting injustices that have been done to the black community. We're not looking to be superior or get over on anyone, we're looking for equal treatment.

In all fairness that does happen. Where I work Minorities and women dont need to score the minimum 85% on a mechanical test to pass. I know I am a tester. Their promotions go through anyway. Which is a shame because they have the ability if they study and train.
I tested for corrections officer and passed, I could have had the job but declined it for a job where I am at now. Blacks got an automatic 5 point advantage.
Do away with affirmative action and you do away with the lame excuses. affirmative action is Institutionalized discrimination. Nothing more and nothing less.
I agree with you far too many use Affirmative action as an excuse why brother Billy wasn't hired. The fact that He tanked the test, the interview or whatever seems to be ignored.

Sometimes that does happen. But as I note, because it does happen doesn't mean it always happens.
