There are other large canyons and rifts on this planet. The Bible explains that the waters receded. This is taken to mean into the ground, for much of the water came out of the ground which explains how the flood occurred.

I think that the book is great - the part excerpted about electricity does bother me a bit - because there is no reason why children at all ages can't learn at an appropriate level about atoms, charge, attaraction and repellance, and electromagnetism - but maybe the book went into further detail later on.

The problem with the article is that it presumes that science and God have to be mutually exclusive - and the writer thinks that children are being "tricked" when God is mentioned alongside a presentation of science. Not so - God is the author of science, which is after all only our understanding of the world around us. Mention of the Creator is entirely appropriate in a science textbook.

At least some children in Moalla, OR were learning the truth.

I never understand how conservatives think public schools indoctrinate kids yet they teach them that the Bible is factual. Shame people with the most damaged logical faculties reproduce like rabbits

How about some reading comprehension. I asked about North America. Why did the runoff only create one giant canyon in North America. If the entire continent was covered, runoff would have massively eroded the majority of the continent, not one localized area.

And there is no water in the ground that can produce the flood. Do you even know what's underneath the Continental plates?

The flood was disproved hundreds of years ago by Christians trying to prove it happened. Stop believing nonsense.

As a literal story, no. As a theological metaphor yes.

The Creation story, as outlined in Genesis, has been an integral part of the Bible since its writing and compilation.
Not for the reasons you think.

Without the creation story, there is not Adam and Eve, for man was created on the sixth day. Without Adam and Eve, there is no downfall of man. Without the downfall of man, there is no sin. Without sin, there is no need for a Savior (Jesus). Thus, as you can see, the creation account and the fall of man is definitely in line with all aspects of Christianity and the need of a savior for the remission of sins.
There is no Original Sin in the Old Testament. Adam and Eve were likely not real, seeing as Adam is the Hebrew word for mankind/humanity, and the entire Genesis story is a metaphorical myth passed down orally for theological teachings, not for a history lesson.

That's not logic nor even instinct. That's where the phrase "get lucky" comes from.

Let's be realistic - the kids getting homeschooled with those books weren't going to become scientists anyway. Not even close...

Default Another B.S. thread

I went to a Chrisian school...And we learned the same science as everyone else.....Perhaps even better - as students from Christian schools do better in exams and in the fields of science and medicine.

That is why so many groups send their children to Christian schools...How about the ongoing battles about voucher programs where minority groups are fighting for the vouchers so they can get their children into these schools...They know where better education (including science) is given.

This argument about creationism vs science in Christian education is just overblown B.S...apparently supported by the same "scientific" minds that are "9/11 consipiracy" and Bigfoot" believers.

The rights of the parents are paramount to what the school wants to teach, period.

Did you look at the link with the pages from the "science" book? If not, you really ought to before you make a compete ass of yourself. This is a publication by one of the most conservative schools on the planet for homeschooled children. They make the Taliban look liberal.
