But a new report focusing on black males suggests that the picture is even bleaker than generally known.
Income is only one way to measure poverty. The article is somewhat unclear as to what could explain the disparity. I can think of several possible reasons. For instance some 70% of black children are born out of wedlock. With whites it more like 30% are. Having a biological father in the household is a big factor in the success of a woman's children, especially boys. If you are a liberal, you don't want to hear that.

Here's something else you don't want to hear if you are a liberal, average IQs vary quite a bit from one race to another. I usually don't put too much emphasis on iqs tho. For me, as a teacher, it's just getting children to perform to the best of their ability that I find most difficult. I can't tell you the numbers of intelligent children I've known who simply underperformed due to issues at home.

Also you need to understand you can be poor and still have middle class values such as hard work, delayed gratification, and an emphasis on education as a way to succeed. Divorce will often throw otherwise middle class kids into poverty..........but they still possess those values that will insure they do well in school.

The list of "possible" reasons is legion.

From your link.

But why only Black MALES? Reading between the lines; it's like Black GIRLS are doing better or at least Ok compared to everyone else of either sex or ethnic background.
No role models for black males as some 70% of black children are born into homes without their fathers. Black girls have mothers as role models, both good and bad. The boys have no role models. Role models are actually important in the development of children.

Is this bigotry, or is Virginia just being realistic about human capabilities and aptitudes?
Of course it is bigotry. Anything that is based solely upon the color of someone's skin is by definition bigotry.

The whole reason iq tests exist is they are a good indicator of how well an individual will do in school. In a society where a good education is a good way to the better life a lower iq will limit your options.

Cultural factors have more to do with this situation than simply the color of the children involved.

"Make them??" I've been knocking myself out for years trying to address just how you teach the unwilling. It's damn difficult. I can tell you this tho, you cannot "make" a child learn if they don't want to.

Which is why I say culture is what needs to be really addressed. Poverty is an absence of money it should not mean an absence of values.

Black students tend to score lower than white or Asian students. Why is it such a shocker that Virginia has gone the extra mile to just put it in writing?

This is something that should be considered by those proponents of multi-culturalism.

If liberal freaks had not pushed multiculturalism since the 1970s there would be no cultural factors, except from recent immigrants. When diversity became more important than assimilation the US ceased to be that "melting pot" when it excelled in public education.
