This judge had to be having a bad day. I hope she doesn't preside over any other sexual assault cases.
Quote:
A sexual assault victim who was groped by an off-duty police officer is demanding an apology from an Arizona judge who during a sentencing hearing for the defendant told her: "If you wouldn’t have been there that night, none of this would have happened to you.”
Here's another example of an ignorant judge, audio included in link:
"According to a court recording in the December case, Lamdin for about 30 minutes repeatedly and sometimes sternly questioned a woman who said her husband struck her, threw her on the floor and stomped on her. An audio recording shows one women pleading for a protective order form her husband. She was recorded saying, "I believe he is a threat to the safety and well being of my children and I just finished grad school and have no means to vacate the house. And so I need him not to be there."
The judge responded to her pleading saying, "Ma'am there are shelters." He elaborated saying, "Ma'am you were separated from him once, and you went back did you not? Because you allowed money to control your better judgement. Because it's the easy way out."
I read your link and decided to post the judge's quote in it's entirety.
Bad things can happen in bars, Hatch told the victim, adding that other people might be more intoxicated than she was.
"If you wouldn't have been there that night, none of this would have happened to you," Hatch said.
Hatch told the victim and the defendant that no one would be happy with the sentence she gave, but that finding an appropriate sentence was her duty.
"I hope you look at what you've been through and try to take something positive out of it," Hatch said to the victim in court. "You learned a lesson about friendship and you learned a lesson about vulnerability."
Hatch said that the victim was not to blame in the case, but that all women must be vigilant against becoming victims.
"When you blame others, you give up your power to change," Hatch said that her mother used to say.
Your story in the OP seems to be a little twisted but then what more can we expect from an activist. I am talking about the story as I read it. Is there a chance that if the woman hadn't been in a bar, unescorted, it wouldn't have happened? I sure think so.

Darn it, another righty read the whole link and saw something the lefties managed to miss. Ain't it something how we read words so much different than THEY do?
A woman can go anywhere she wants,it doesn't mean a man has the right to touch her.
Geez......
I don't know what's wrong with going to a bar unescorted?(I personally don't know any woman who goes excorted to a bar).
Maybe we have some old farts above.

Nobody said anybody had a right to touch her or anything else. This is reality we're living in not the dems utopia. There are sicko's out there. Hell I tell my son to not go "out" on his own.

IMO the full quote just makes it all worse. "victim not to blame - BUT" don't go out, don't look that way, don't be someone that sociopaths want to assault. Oh and don't point it out (blame) if you get yourself sexually assaulted? Please.

That's not the entire original quote.
That is a collection of bits and pieces taken out of their original context to fit within the writer's narrative.
We really don't know what was said and what it meant in context.

Please post a link to the original courtroom transcript so we can all read the "full quote".
