All very true, however, what most posters have failed to realize is that not all consumers are poor or middle class. The consumers of my business services are other businesses. My business provides products and services that only other businesses find useful. Not only would the poor and middle-class not find my products and services useful (except indirectly), they also could not afford my rates.
Once removed, twice removed. It still boils down to the consumer, the middle class predominately. Domino effect, eliminate the middle the foundation crumbles. Those business dealing with other business will erode in quick order.
The assertion was that the middle class creates more jobs in this country than any other socio-economic group, and that's fine; I have no problem with making a claim. However, the OP did not provide numbers such as business startups, employment numbers, etc. to back her claim.
It's an interesting topic, but if the intent was a discussion, then it was ruined for lack of information.

Not sure why people think they make a point without an argument and supporting facts but they do all the time.
If the only people who bought anything were the super rich, the economy would collapse. If the only people who worked were the super rich, factories would shut down.
We, the middle class are the true job creators
Who pays these people to put them in the middle class and who is most likely to own the store (business with employees) where the consumer goes to purchase? Yes, customers are needed but the businesses do well by providing what customers want or need,thus they're attracted to the business. If the business doesn't do that, they close. The attractiveness of the business to the consumer originates with the business owner.
Both are important, but libs and dems bought into Obama's "demonize success" and they voted to hurt businesses with legislation and high taxes and it trickled down to hurt the middle class.
Business reacted to the increased expenses caused by higher taxes by cutting back, buckled in. That money could have been used to grow business leading to increase in employment. Obama doesn't hide that he wants to raise taxes again and if he gets his way, business expenses will increase, business will react again by cutting back even further.
So they hoard waiting for Obama to leave office hoping the next president won't be so anti business.
If you sign the lease buy equipment research the market comply with regulations do the hiring make payroll and pay the taxes - then you are a job creator. If you just buy stuff you are a consumer. Don't flatter yourself into believing differently.
Question: Why would the super-rich want their customers to be oppressed financially?
They depend on a vibrant and healthy middle-class, don't they?
By the same token why would the customers want to hurt the business. They only hurt themselves because regulations and taxes are an added expense for the business. To pay for them the business must cut back elsewhere, that means lost jobs.
The rich create products and services...consumers create jobs.
That's always been the case.
lol, "the rich" create products and services, if the business created a product or service the customer wants the customer will buy it. Everyone wins. If the product or service does well the business will invest more money, hire more people to provide the service or product or service to the customer.
To think that both are not intertwined is thinking with a naive and closed mind.
