I asked if their chanting worked.....it's a simple question....seems to me someone SO much more brave and moral than those naughty women would have the BACKBONE to answer....
I mean they had the "courage" () to stand outside a health clinic and proclaim themselves perfect while they prayed for those sinful folks ...you'd think they'd have the courage to answer questions.....guess not...the whole story must've been a lie.....
That is true, and generally I do respect the OP for her convictions & maturity... but like ANY teenager, she still has a lot to learn.
Which is why I urged her to volunteer. There's a whole big, messy world out there. And I think she needs to not only walk the walk I think she needs to learn WHY women go to PP. Because it's not just for abortions.
OP, I looked on PP's web site. I think you should too. They also offer screenings for ovarian cancer which is an extremely deadly cancer. That's a cancer that has to be caught very early. Have you ever seen a woman with advanced stage ovarian cancer who wasn't able to afford a visit to a doctor and has gone undiagnosed? Her life span is weeks. Not years.
So, OP, the question is: while you are praying on the sidewalk are you also blocking the way for a woman to get an exam that might save their life?
Not really. Abortions are commonly sought by minorities, drug addicts, and/or poor people... you said yourself "I want a white, healthy, non-addicted baby," and sadly your opinion is not all that unusual. For women who carry "perfect white babies" people like you desire, they are MUCH more likely to either keep the baby or adopt it to a relative/friend. Why do you think they're in such high demand, while so many non-white "non-perfect" babies & children languish in foster care until age 18? Common sense.
If you really cared about preventing abortion you'd consider an older & non-white child, or even better, one with health or behavior problems. THEY are the ones who need adopting, but you still want to sit on a waiting list for that ideal newborn? Sorry, but that just reeks of hypocrisy and NIMBY behavior. I'd love to adopt a child myself, and specifically want to find one who NEEDS adoption - not one who has 1000 people clamoring to take them. Just as I did when I decided to get a dog, I'll seek one who's actually at risk of never finding a home (and that was one of the best decisions I've ever made).
Gosh, i wish people would read people's posts more carefully if they are going to make statements about people based on them. I DID NOT SAY I was only interested in a white, healthy child. I specifically said that race did not matter to us at all.
In regard to your argument that if I really cared, I would take in an older child. Well, most reputable adoption agencies would discourage that, because I have young children. Many have rules that say that the child you are adopting has to be at least 1 year younger than your youngest child. There are very sound reasons for that, that I do not think it wise to go into here....I doubt anyone cares. The bottom line is, that we could not take in an older child because we have a toddler in our home right now. If I wait till I am old enough to adopt an older child( IE. When my children are old enough not to be potentially put at risk) I will be too old to raise that child properly, as I am already in mid life.
Are you open to adopting an older child right now? I hope so, since you were so eager to hurl stones at me for not doing it. Definitely, there is a huge need, and if I had been able to have children earlier in life, I would have probably adopted an older hard to adopt child. I worked with at risk kids for years at a non-profit, and have a heart for them.
My husband always did that, too, every time the pro-lifers would picket and pray outside the our local Planned Parenthood. Thanks for reminding me of that. I need to go find my checkbook.

It was costing me a fortune!
