I think what infuriates progressives the most about Republicans is their rank hypocrisy. The "family values" GOP is who is usually caught up in sex scandals, and their constant accusations of "Socialism" ignores the fact that red states are the poorest, dumbest and fattest in the nation, slurping up government dollars like a generation on welfare.

Speaking of "Socialism"....

And speaking of socialism, all Alaska residents get a check from the government every year -- it's their share of the Permanent Fund dividend, funded by oil revenues and enthusiastically defended by all Alaskans, even ultra-conservatives like Sarah Palin.

And still they soak up $1.84 in Federal spending for every dollar they send to Washington.

Do a chart on Blue State failures. You know California is sitting on at least 5 billion barrels of oil but won't allow anyone to drill for it? Can you imagine such a mismanagement of resources that could generate 1 million jobs and pay off the state debt.

FYI..those red state/blue state classifications were based on the 2004 Presidential election. Some of those states went Obama in 2008.

PolitiFact | 'Red State Socialism' graphic says GOP-leaning states get lion's share of federal dollars
As we noted, the data is for 2005. To the author’s credit, this is disclosed prominently, and because it’s the most recent data of its type available, we can hardly fault the creator of the graphic for using it. Still, since the data has almost certainly shifted in the interim, particularly with the 2009 stimulus and the general increase in deficit spending, those patterns could have shifted as well.

"Because of the high deficit spending we’re seeing at the federal level, it’s likely that every state is currently receiving more in federal spending than its population paid in federal income taxes," the Tax Foundation's Morrison said.

This whole idea is complete BS. Red state's "receive more" because they host the vast majority of airbases and army bases and so receive a disproportionate amount of defense dollars which of course benefits the entire country.

The other major factor here is the low population density of red states, which means that they receive more funds -per capita- for highways and infrastructure, but again this infrastructure is utilized for trade and transport that greatly benefits blue states.

One last thing to remember is that huge swaths of the empty Western red states are essentially owned and administered by the government, which of course counts towards them "receiving more" despite providing locals with little actual value.

It benefits the whole country? You mean the socialism for all those unnecessary jobs in the Defense Dept. and military industrial complex? Hate to break it to you but thats full blown socialism. Those jobs are there out of fearmongering and Republican propaganda that it is making the country safer. You just happen to swallow the propaganda for its necessity. Having a clue about how to reduce the Federal deficit would start by cutting off this socialism, but the flag wavers would hyperventilate.

Of course it benefits the blue states, what would they do without them?

Why the DHS has taken control over more agencies under Obama then under Bush.
How is that Republican propaganda ? Obama had 4 years and has not decreased our military.

You, my friend, are not looking at this with your eyes open.

Pres. Obama is a conservative, but that is a far better option than the Bush/McCain/Romney neoconservatism of the Republican party.

What is needed is either an Eisenhower Republican to get traction or for a Ron Paul pragmatist to break the ideological stranglehold of the neconservatives and religious whack-a-loons currently in control of your party.
