Yep, just straight forward reporting on what actually happened.....which is Romney showed leadership and Obama once again showed his pandering to radicals and his foreign policy weakness.
What leadership? You mean by mistaking a statement by an embassy as the offcial WH statement?
Tactical error. Should have waited 24 hours at least, this way he opens himself up to criticism for politicizing a crisis. He is in danger of looking like he's stepping over dead bodies trying to score points in an election.
I think the fact that he got some of the details wrong doesn't matter. Both sides of the aisle have been peddling half truths the whole election and it seems no one cares anyway.
Mittens is all about politicizing and looking to score points :
Quote:
Under fire for his Tuesday night response, Romney addressed reporters at his Jacksonville campaign office, where he had been scheduled to hold a rally. But after the White House announced Obama would address the ambassador's death, Romney aides abruptly reversed course, collecting campaign signs from supporters and escorting them out of the building so that he could make a statement to reporters first.
Still. The militants KNEW where the safehouse was.
And that's because somebody on the inside gave them that information.
And that means they should have people in custody trying to get them to spill the beans....
Only a select few should know of the locations of the safe houses. You have your "A list" right there.
Who's is fault is it? Isn't he the one who help get rid of Gaddafi? Didn't they say helping the "rebels" was a good thing. That they would be our allies?
Of course you're right. Gaddafi was apparently a good friend to American conservatives, and back when he was around, everything over there was going well for American interests, and everyone there liked Americans. :-)
ROFL!!!! The economy and foreign affairs are two of Obamas many weak points....probably the weakest.
Obama had ZERO foreign affairs experience coming into his presidency (community organizer and all) and will leave soon with very little experience.
Lefties sure are good for a laugh - or several.
ha. you are talking about the same president who ended the war in Iraq responsibly and killed Osama Bin laden. You are talking about the same president who directly and indirectly got rid of several dictators and terrorist leaders without going to war and putting American lives and resources at risk and Obama has no foreign experience? You gotta be joking.
Responsible people would condemn, of course, the violence itself; but also, the idiots who made and promoted the film that sparked this violence. A tragedy like this, once upon a time, especially occurring on an anniversary such as yesterday was, would have found both parties, however superficially, linking arms for a day to show that we're all Americans.
So what did Mitt Romney do? He politicized it of course. He issued a statement blasting the State Department for its statement condemning the film--a statement that was issued before the violence erupted. And he was cutesy about it. The statement was given to the press last night (i.e., still Sept. 11) around 10 pm, but the campaign asked the media to wait until 12:01 am to run with it, so that this partisan attack would technically happen on September 12.
If you want to know what kind of company he put himself in, consider that the only other high-profile Republican so far to try to use these terrible events as proof that Obama hearts Mooslems was Sarah Palin. Nice. And there's Reince Priebus, who tweeted that Obama "sympathizes with attackers in Egypt. Sad and pathetic." Yep. Sad and pathetic all right, but not in the way he means.
The right-wing outrage here seems to be around the idea that State's initial reaction was to deplore the film rather than the violence. The White House says that statement was not cleared with it. Whatever. All that is just about political point-scoring. Meanwhile, very serious things are happening and people are dead. And all Romney and the RNC can do, all they want to do, all they seem capable of doing, is to try to use these deaths to win the news cycle.
Pressue will mount today on Romney, it's already mounting on the Twitters, to say what he'd do. We know what he's going to say: First of all, I wouldn't apologize for America. Rah rah. But how would he actually manage these events? And will he condemn stupid anti-Muslim bigotry? Not holding my breath for that one.
Once again, the Romney pattern holds: pander to the right, issue an irresponsible statement, before Romney and his people even know whether this violence is going to spread, and prove that they will try to use even the violent deaths of four diplomats to political advantage. This isn't an aberration. We've seen enough to know that this is his character.
I wouldn't take much in what the media is throwing out there right now. They will report anything. The cleanup is going on right now in the bowels of the state department. That is one thing for sure and then the "official story" will be aired. Brudderhood will probably catch some folks and say hey here are the guys who did it and that will be the end of it. The money will continue to flow and the US will look weak again to the terrorists. The invitation is out there waiting to be answered again.
ha. you are talking about the same president who ended the war in Iraq responsibly and killed Osama Bin laden. You are talking about the same president who indirectly got rid of several dictators without going to war and Obama has nor foreign experience?
and the president under who laid waste to al Qaeda by killing their leaders wherever they hide? Obama has been the best foreign policy president in at least a generation. In contrast, Romney could not even go over to England to see his horse without causing a diplomatic uproar. One could argue economic strenghs I suppose, but there is simply no comparison between the president's and Romney's foreign policy acumen. Don't even go there, righties. This is one you lose hands down.
