However, apparently the middle east goes to crap without dictators. ISIS is running a muck in Syria and Iraq. It is hard to tell the different rebels apart and the strongest rebel group will win out if Assad falls, which appears to be ISIS who killed a bunch of civilians today in Syria and blew up Jonah's Tomb in Iraq. What a busy day for them.
Why are we sending rebels weapons and supplies? It has to help ISIS. Some will fall into ISIS hands as the rebel groups mingle. If Assad falls, ISIS will dominate much of Syria.
Shouldn't we stay out and if we can't stay out - wouldn't it be better to have Assad win?

I'm not sure I would have that much confidence that the ISIS could run anything for very long, I think the media has hyped them too much, they're much less invincible than they appear. And while I agree with not wanting to get involved, I'd say Assad remaining in charge of the country is the preferable choice.
Just let the Arabs be Arabs, without intervening.
Assad (a compassionate British doctor) knows his enemies and they all accept the attrocities as long as US and Israel are not involved. Just a disagreement between brothers and only Allah can stop it.
Any step by US will be considered a transgression against Muslims and nobody wants peace enforced by America.

Yes, we should stay out.
And if we can't, and there's really nothing to say we can't, let it be by a Declaration of War* from Congress, otherwise it's probably time for impeachment hearings.
*Personally, I'd like to see a Constitutional Amendment prohibiting the POTUS from sending combat troops anywhere for longer than 60 days without a formal Declaration of War from Congress.

No it is animals like assad whose repressive rule and broad theft of the wealth of syria, all while acting as little more than a poodle of iran and russia set the stage for the oppressed, average citizens of syria to rise up and fight for basic freedoms.
Assad is a cancer, and along with the diseased, wretched fake regime of iran cannot be wiped off the map soon enough. Death to iran, bashar and putin.

Yeah, wretched fake regimes are only good when they're our wretched fake regimes, eh?
In all of those cases it's up to the people to fight to change their own countries, not the US.
The Israelis do not like Assad due to his alliance with Iran. We should know we're in a rabbit hole when we find ourselves supporting a murderous dictator like Assad.
Either way, it is a cluster****. We should have stayed in Iraq to create a city on a hill as an example to the rest of the Mid East. The decision to pull out is creating a domino effect that will result in millions of lives lost, female genital mutilations, forced conversions, etc. across the Mid East.
The current administration's goal has really been a stalemate. That's what the Romney foreign strategy would have been as well. They don't want Assad out but they also don't want him to be a stronger force in the region.
You can read newspapers and magazines that cover this stuff you know.
For better or worse, Assad has experience ruling a Muslim country in a "somewhat secular" manner. Like Saddam, he has figured out that the only way to keep violent Muslims from killing each other is through a powerful, brutal central government. We need to stay the F out of this one. Assad may be a ***hole, but the animals making up the rebel forces are far worse.
It sure as h*ll isn't our responsibility to step in with support for either side. Nothing happening is worth the life of an American military person or the revenue of the US taxpayer.
