The link is from the Houston Chronicle, the largest major newspaper closest to Paul's home town. I doubt it has a vendetta against Paul.
As for the ethics charges, apparently the House has not been brought into the fray as yet. But it does seem strange that the Paul camp has not responded to repeated correspondence from the Libertarian group regarding the duplicate payments, especially since June of this year. Seems plenty of time to get a RESPONSE of SOME sort,.....not just stonewalling.
I personally have nothing against Paul. But for some claiming Paul's Republican allegience, one only need ask about his refusal to endorse the winning ticket at Republican convention. Paul ain't no Republican,...he's a RINO,...a Libertarian in a Republican guise.
The guy has been running for president. Who is this committee? Do they even have to answer them? Either wait or let them sue. They may waste quite a bit of money on that suit.
Frankly, it sounded like they did answer and disagreed on the amt of double billing. To go back so far I would think could take quite a bit of time/money. I would want to have a valid reason. Some committee just saying hey we found this means squat.
Unfortunately, I have no doubt double-billing happens quite frequently. That said it doesn't make you a criminal, at worst possibly owing money. Record keeping is fraught with issues.
No matter what, the Fed needs to be audited. This is not refutable.
You don't throw the baby out with the bathwater...this is exactly what you are trying (or seem to want) to do. And that is scary...
Well, just wait and see whether Paul has to reimburse the Libertarian group with Congressional monies. After all, he did in 2005 according to the article, which shows that his office is prone to make double billings.
And,....no one is saying to not audit the fed (that's a stretch on your part). Paul has been a strong proponent of auditing the fed,....so should he not have his own house in order before pointing fingers at others?
Pretty simply concept if you remove the log from your eye.

Just because he doesn't "have his house in order", doesn't mean that a spade isn't a spade. The FED is an issue that transcends party politics, IMO. YMMV
