They don't need a pay raise . We are all aware of their vital service for our country. This is why they earn more than the average US worker.

Your out of your freaking mind on that one.
Private school teachers can go for what ever compensation they want.
The government ones need to lose the union. They need to be able to be fired more easily and they are not worth their high pay.
Since the union has been going the results have gotten far worse, not better.

Yes they do need a pay raise. And making more than the average worker depends on what area you live in. Our county has public schools that are the best in the country yet the teachers can't afford to live here.

You're right, we should pay teacher minimum wage for their work....and then when our future generations become dumber, the ones who were able to afford better elections can tell those dumber generations that it is those elite smart people that are trying to control them and they should vote for the other party.

We have the best school in the country as well and our city pays for it, not the state.
In our case there is no way the average teacher will buy in this city.
Teachers can afford to rent here.

This city is nuts anyway, we just found out we have politicians who were bribed by unions to provide the 900 public workers on average with a 3.5 million dollar retirement package on average and residents are pissed.
Get rid of the unions in government and most of the problem is solved.

No, just pay the public ones no more than the average ones do in pay and benefits in the private sector schools. Union government workers were never meant to become an elite class of overpaid workers at the taxpayer's expense.

So what is the average pay with benefits in the private sector.

Also, are you simply talking about teachers in general or just Chicago Public Schools?

Parents are the problem not unions.

To me that is crazy talk.

Next lets find the doctors that botch surgery and make sure Medicare pays them double. It would be the same kind of thing.

First, nothing found in the private sector should be paid higher in government.
Secondly, when they are failing horribly in what they are doing they should all be fired as does regularly happen in the private sector.
The public government sector tends to protect failures all over the place. Pensions are also at this point worse than all the entitlements.
Can't go on.
