This article I read compared Communist China to Imperial Japan and I was wondering whether people consider Communist China to be a nicer and much better power than Imperial Japan. One of the biggest ironies of the Pacific War was that America put the oil embargo on Japan because America feared that it would lose its commercial concessions that it had on China but eventually America ended up losing all of its concession and all its investments in China anyways when the Communists came to power in 1949. A lot of people would say that China's seizure of Tibet and Xinjiang does not differ much from Japan's seizure of Korea and Taiwan. For example, Japan annexed Korea due to its military strategic significance which is also why China annexed Tibet. Both China and Japan have also been accused of cultural genocide in their treatment of Tibet and Korea respectively. Communist China is also accused of killing 60 million people (which isn't that well substantiated) while Japan's blood count of around 20 million is well documented. Both countries have also accused of being being aggressive, China for example has been condemned by the US for the Korean War, the Sino-Vietnamese War, the Sino-Indian War, and the invasion of Tibet and Xinjiang.
In any case, what country do you think is the more benevolent power?
Without comparing China to someone else, they suck plenty fine on their own.
They've already polluted about half their drinking water.
They have slave labor.
They are not straight forward with their books and could be far worse off than Greece at this moment.
They are communists, which means the government controls the people and gets all the wealth.
I had a friend who went deep into China and most of their people live in a place the size of one of our small closets. There is a small privileged class, but in general, they suck ass.
They also have a war on women having aborted tons of them instead of boys the last 20 years.

The Chinese are a mercenary bunch. The things they do to animals is beyond comprehension. They send people to prison and hand out death sentences to farm organs. I'll tell you one difference between the Chinese and Japanese...if it's made in Japan, go ahead and buy it. If it's made in China, proceed at your own risk. Japan takes pride in what they produce..China, not so much.

Yeah, Japan doesn't send us lead painted toys or jewelry with poisioned metal like China does. I agree with you.

Are animal rights really that important to people? I always hear people complain over and over about what China does to animals. I mean it is their country so I don't think it is really anyone's business. Japan is awful to sea animals but then again so are Norway, Iceland, Canada, and the Faroe Islands. Japan isn't too bad with land animals though. To me it sounds like the age old complaint, "these people are heathens and not Christians". BTW India is known for its fair treatment of animals and I believe India is considered Asia.

People understand the obvious need for animal food on their tables for a proper diet. Asians can be seen ripping the skin off of live animals all over youtube. You can watch an animal shivering in pain without it's skin dying in agony.
People don't like that IMO.
I don't think they like the Japanese going to the whale protected sanctuaries in an attempt to kill a thousand or so whales when the population of whales have been collapsing.
People IMO think you should kill your food animals as quick and painlessly as possible for them. They think you should not go after things that are starting to go extinct IMO.
Truth is it wouldn't hurt for us to have a limited meat diet for our health.
I know this to be true, and I am a BIG poultry eater.
I am aware that there are brutal non-Asians as well at times with animals. We could all do better IMO and I will leave it at that.

Cutting off a sharks fin and throwing them back into the water. Poaching elephants and rhinos for tusks.
Sorry, do not agree with you on this one. I'm not saying that some of the people do not have a family pet or do care about treating an animal with dignity, but as a rule, China does not rank high on this issue.
Imperial, i.e. prewar Japan, was pretty damn awful and their treatment of China, Korea, the Philippines, natives throughout the south Pacific, their POWs, etc was infamously horrific and I would certainly say worse than China.
Contemporary Japan has its problems, but modern China has Tibet, the mistreatment of Ughyrs, a blindingly corrupt political system, bribe-happy cops, a state-controlled propoganda mill as the press, suppression of the internet, a repressive family policy, known instances of forced abortions, executions for non-capital offenses, a nonexistant appeals process... So... Yeah.
