Is Antarctica losing or gaining ice?

Satellites measure Antarctica is gaining sea ice but losing land ice at an accelerating rate which has implications for sea level rise.

Most of the Earth was covered in ice at one point. At another point, there was no ice at all. The Earth's climate flutuates! The Earth has been here for in excess of 4 BILLION years. We've been keeping records for 150 years. No one actually knows what "normal" is!

Yet even that didn't!

My dissertation committee would've laughed in his face for presenting such "findings".

Increasing numbers of people are laughing in his face... and they don't need to be on dissertation committees to do it.

What bunch of baloney this is. Why is China, Canada, the US and Russia staking out their claims in all the never before accessible areas of the Antarctic? Because of all the new ice?

You really don't like to hear that Antarctica is making ice so fast, do you?
This news has been around for more than a year. Of course, leaners avoided reading any of it.

Many people believe that history started on the day they were born. They can't possibly believe that the earth is 4.5 billion years old and has gone through hundreds of climate and continent position changes. If you watch the re-runs of 'how the earth was born' on the History Channel, people might realize that humans have nothing to do with any changes occuring. Ice melting in the arctic and ice getting bigger in the antarctic are just natural occurences. 11,000 years ago, the ice on Central Park in NYC was 1 mile thick. The ice on the Antarctic mountain ranges is a mile thick with just a few hundred feet of the peaks sticking out.
