The fact is, it was an easy question to answer. Either he is too stupid and out of touch, he couldn't remember, or he was embarrassed for being asked that by a "friendly" and too humiliated to admit what the number was.

I have always wondered how he proposes to pay that debt back when his non-budgeted years have increased it by $7 trillion in 3.5 years. He talks a great game when campaigning but he doesn't play such a good one when it comes game time.

The Letterman thing was just like a good old press conference. Ask him softball questions and then just accept his non-answer and go on from there. He is something but I don't think nearly as brilliant as the media wants us to think.
