How will the government be able to tell which people are "leeching" and which people really do need the government assistance? For once, what about those that were not born with a silver spoon in their mouth? Those that have health problem that disable them from working. Those veterans that were hurt serving our country and can't work anymore. Are these people being considered??

I would begin with the lazy freeloaders elected to office that don't do what they promised.
I would then do a review on each agency/ department and clean house.
I am a big believer in starting at the top. That would be get rid of Biden and Obama then every elected rep that is pork spender. You can find them here.

That's why Americans give billions to charity every year. We don't need government welfare.

And by the way, millions of us were not born "with a silver spoon in their mouth" and are doing quite well without government welfare.

And that has what to do with my previous post?????

Point out something I posted that would not be effective at reducing freeloading leeches.....that is what the thread is about.

The best way, IMHO, is to quickly adopt a libertarian economic policy:

Turn the spicket off, and fix the leaks!!!

Cut them all off and problem solved.

The Gr**** Ge**ers have turned on Romney even though he has said they will not be effected by any of his proposed changes. Polling shows the Ge**er contigent has thrown Romney overboard.

Work is good. It's better for people to feel they've contributed something, people actually do better when they feel productive.

The worst thing is just to hand people money and encourage them to do nothing with themselves.
Well said and I agree.. Rep point for you!

The only problem is they would ***** about wages, cripple the program by forming a union and then we would be another trillion or two in debt with millions leaning on shovels and bitching about the state of the nation while making far to much for the job they are doing.

Libertarian ideals are great, if you have the means to actually live that way. The fact of the matter is that with rising costs to enter, let alone maintain, the middle class...it's not practical. Rising tuition is preventing students from entering universities, especially those from poor backgrounds. The libertarian ideal is that the free market will work itself out. Well, it truly hasn't. Medical costs are soaring. Fortunately, those that were unable to obtain medical care now can. Not so in the past. Being denied was quite easy to do. Again the free market did not work. Profit does not guarantee a high standard of living.

Libertarian ideals only truly work for the rich.

What is needed is equality of access. What that means is that our current social welfare system should be setup as a means to attain middle class status. Cheaper tuition for those in need. Cheaper medical care for those in need. We should look at ways to use social welfare as a transitional tool, instead of simply abolishing it (or making deep cuts). We currently hack our way in spending cuts, but we do not actually reform the system (hence why we spend more per capita on healthcare, but receive less than most industrialized nations).

Libertarian ideals will only further the wealth gap and only cause more rifts in the nation.
