Republicans risk being the party of mean - CNN.com

Without a positive message, conservatism faces the risk of seeming primarily like a harsh creed, an ideology for those who are intent on disciplining people who have supposedly become dependent on government.

Like most everyone else i get up go to work and yes i pay Federal taxes. Almost every republican i have known always start to act like i have done something to them. All i did was not agree with their ideas. They act like i am dependent on the government or i am responsible for other people and what they do. I think this article pretty well has them pegged.

In the first place, don't confuse the modern Republican Party with Conservatism. They are NOT big "C" Conservatives. They only claim the title. In reality, they are globalist, warmongering, big government liberals.

In the second place, they don't have a positive way to spin what they want do to us. How do you "positively" tell American's that you want to undo a century of social and labor progress, hand the keys of the government to corporations and start another Middle East war?

I'd really like to see them spin THAT into something positive, wouldn't you?

Default Republicans need a positive message.

The one they've been using is, "Don't tax the job creators!"

Looks like it's going over like a pregnant pole vaulter.

Any time a political party uses obstructionist tactics to make their opponents look bad, they will be considered "mean."

The ultra cons may not have completely taken over the party, but they are, by far the most vocal of the bunch, and that gives the entire GOP a black eye.

Yes, they look mean. Read some of the RW posts here, for a sample.
