I was disappointed to see the new actors for part II vs I, I figured it would destroy any continuity to the story. But from the trailer, I'm very optomistic. Looks like they have a bigger budget and much nicer, more professional sets. Not sure I like the new Dagny as much as the Taylor Shilling though.
Anyway, I figured I'd let you know, something to look forward to. Too bad it didn't come out on September 2nd.
While it was a flop at the box office, it may have made it's money back in video release. It may have even made money as a video, as it's been out quite a while now.
I'll bet the sequel will go straight to video. It may have a limited release in the areas where the first flick did the best.
And the sequel's release may have been timed to hitchhike on the back of the publicity that Warner Bros. is putting behind Cloud Atlas, a $100 million dollar movie starring Tom Hanks and Hallie Berry that will be released in October. It was made by the same guiys who made The Matrix.
I'm surprised that a sequel was done; the last I heard, the producer wasn't thinking of making a sequel, and was disappointed in the returns from the first movie. Given how bad the box office has been this year, maybe the producer thinks the sequel will do better as an altenative entertainment to the mainstream, or maybe he's getting a cheaper deal this year. Either way, it's going to be a long shot if it's successful. While I haven't seen the original, by brother rented the video, and he said it sucked. When I get a thumbs down from him, I usually pass. He's not political at all, but he watches a lot of movies.

Bad book, worse movie. Purely ideologically driven art rarely has any substance.
