Never met a stripper...or hooker that was not emotionally damaged...or sexually dysfunctional. I have lived across the street for on of Canada's more infamous strip clubs...I would play music at the bar just down the street
That's a lot of judgement for someone who made a living off of people drinking.
Just because you don't like the implications the fact of the matter is that for centuries women have exchanged sex and child bearing for economic security, or do you honestly believe that all marriages are based upon love?
Do you think women put up with physical and mentally abusive husbands and boyfriends because of love or because they are "taken care" of. It is a sad fact but it is a fact whether you like it or not.
sorry my friend but my experience dealing with people who either stay in abusive relationships or go from one to another tend to be people with underlying issues that need addressing. It may seem on the surface that security is part of the equasion, but it is never really the issue.
of course not. the men who are seeking out these women and engaging in the same activities with them are perfectly 'normal and well adjusted.' Only the woman is considered 'damaged.'
Uh; if a dude sells himself to women like a "gigolo", he's no better.
Women have sex with guys they don't love all the time. Sometimes they are married to them. Yes, it's IS a fact that historically woman married for security, not love. All the love stuff is fairly recent....and isn't proving itself to work that well.
I don't think they are necessarily damaged, I think they are human.
Yes they're damaged. Sex and overall affection is something to trade, but rather that is 'sacred', and I don't necessarily mean that in the religious sense. Prostitution is never something somebody should stoop to, especially in our wealthy country. .
Would you prefer that they go on welfare and leech off the state?

It isn't an either-or proposition. They should work, cut costs, be thrifty, or seek help if they truly need it, sure. Part of the reason securities exist, like food stamps, is so people can't be enslaved and demoralized should they end up in incredibly rough times where they would be incredibly desperate. Come to think of it, the johns should be put on the sex offender list too.
