Words can't even describe how unfair it is for that kid to not be honored for his accomplishments, and all because of sexual orientation. Seriously, who gives a s*** what his sexual orientation is? What the hell does sexual orientation have to do with anything anyways. Smh
It actually has a lot to do with a lot of things, and that's why people freak out about it every time it's brought up.
"I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout law; To help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake .....................and morally straight"
There you go.
Morally straight is entirely subjective. I don't consider the Boy Scouts a moral organization. Their opinion on morality doesn't trump mine.

I agree 100%, and think they have a VERY distorted perception of morality... IMO it's far more immoral to hate people for something they cannot change, and to indoctrinate youth into believing their twisted definitions. They are free to do as they please, but I wish they'd at least be honest instead of using the Bible to justify their personal opinions.

Okay, but I doubt they mean sexually straight in that pledge.
In this instance the BSA is like a church, some are accepting and other not so much. They have chosen the 'not so much' path but I predict, with 100% certainty, they are going to meekly give up on this in the coming years.
so why would a gay boy choose to go there in the first place?
Because he started when he was very young and probably didn't have any clue he was gay at the time he joined.
