I don't feel entitled to their money. I hope people make oodles of money.
But they have to pay taxes on it. I have to. The rich have to. I then have the right (not entitlement) to drive on the roads our combined tax dollars built. Simple. You make money then you pay Ceasar what is due Ceasar. If you don't like what Ceasar asks you to pay then be sure to vote.
agree! But, the issue here is also about spending. Where does our taxpayer money go? If I see a bum on the street asking for money for food then I might give him some. However, I would not give him any if I know that he will use it for booze and/or drugs. Our current dems have no problem offering up our (tax) money to any and all takers. And, they also want to tax us more! Illegals, lazy bums, and other greedy takers who are right there with their hands ready for all the free stuff that Uncle Sam has to give. And if they don't get it then they play the victim. The dems do not see a problem with this!
All the griping in the internet world is going to do squat if the person griping doesn't vote. Better yet, volunteer to work a phone bank. Offer to drive your neighbor to the polls.
We're getting about 10 calls a week at my house. All are from Democratic candidates. One call was a robocall poll from the Republican party. The Democrats are willing to do the dirty work and stuff envelopes and knock on the door to ask for votes.
If you (group "you" - not specifically Guamanians being "you") don't like that the Dems/Libs have created an entitlement society, if that's what you think is happening.... then get off the computer and go register voters. Spit spot. Only a few days left.
The youtube video of the woman yelling about her free Obama phone? What was she doing? Protesting on the street with a sign. Where did you see that video? Probably at home sitting down. Get it? The people who don't want her to have an Obama phone need get the lead out. Putting an empty chair in front of your house is NOT doing something to change things. It says "cranky Republican lives here".

What's with the leading questions on this forum:
Why do you feel entitled...?
Obama is a communist, why do you support him...?
Why do Republicans dislike economic success...?
What kind of idiotic questions are these? They sound like the Inquisition.
They are great questions. As obviously you feel entitled to other people's money, you are just uncomfortable answering them.
Propaganda does work. You are seeing 4 years of propaganda pitting Americans against Americans in every area of life.
And it's working.
A nation DIVIDED will fall.
Differences in political ideology and religious views can break people into factions, but James Madison suggests that the most common reason, constituting the greatest of factions, is the uneven accumulation of property. He proposes that men are inherently unequal in their faculties and abilities, and this naturally leads to an unequal distribution of property and wealth. There are two methods of controlling factions according to Madison, eliminating their origins or managing their outcomes. As liberty is what allows men to form factions in the first place, removing the origin is anathema to Madison, because that is an even greater evil than the problems caused by factions. He proposes instead a governmental solution to limit the ability of interest groups to disrupt the public good and national interest.
The real secret to happiness is to work for what you have and be happy with what you have. And very important is your health.
Envy is one of the seven deadly sins for good reason. Envy rots your soul.
If someone is very motivated by money and is willing to sacrifice many hours, put himself through a whole lot of horrendous stress then why hate him because he took those risks and made it? Someday he might enjoy his large nestegg, others of us are happy enough to make ends meet with a little to spare. So then we look for the simple pleasures -- but you can't enjoy the simple pleasures if you are filled with envy and hate for those who have more.
I knew a guy who made it -- he was looking forward to a great retirement -- travel, golf -- the whole deal. He retired one day before Enron hit the news and his big nest egg disappeared just like that. He said he realized he would have to call off his retirement and go back to work.
The next week he was diagnosed with cancer. He said suddenly money no longer was the important issue -- he'd rather be poor than have his health gone but he was now both poor and very ill.
You demand the government takes more and more from those other people over there, because they have more than you do.
Where does that come from?
Who is demanding that?
We are running significant financial deficits. We have to cut spending, and spending that will largely effect the middle and lower class, much more then the upper class of individuals who don't use programs offered them by the government.
So, its deemed "fair" to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans while everyone else is tightning their belts and having to suck it up and get less of what the government supplies.
In reality, taxes are going to have to go up on everyone, in order to not shurt the economy down, we need to prevent lower and middle income workers from being out to much money, because their demand is the economy.
They are great questions. As obviously you feel entitled to other people's money, you are just uncomfortable answering them.
Why DO YOU feel entitled to other people's money?
Well, since I'm a middle-class professional who pays his taxes, has no debt, and gives to charity, I'm pretty sure you have me confused with someone else.
Back in June, ThinkProgress noted that the manufacturing giant Caterpillar was seeking major concessions during contract negotiations with striking workers, even as it was making billions in profits and giving its CEO a 60 percent pay boost. The New York Times’ Steven Greenhouse added more details today, noting that the company wants to implement a six-year pay freeze and a pension freeze, at a time when it is making record profits:
You demand the government takes more and more from those other people over there, because they have more than you do.
Where does that come from?
It comes partly from the public schools, and much more from the liberal college and university professors. In other words, the Liberal Education Establishment. You may remember Glenn Beck in 2010 exposing the propaganda film, "The Story of Stuff" that the public shcools were filling our childrens minds with. They probably still are. They teach our children from a young age that corporations are just greedy.
That kind of thinking comes from the mind of a socialist who really believes that "you didn't built that". Sad thinking but very true coming from people who have been trained to be socialist thinkers.
So, to you, disabled people who can't build anything should be left alone just to die, since they want help from the productive?
