"HILLARY Clinton has taken political responsibility for last month's terrorist attack on the US consulate in Libya, attempting to deflect fallout for Barack Obama as he faces a critical presidential election debate with his Republican opponent. The US Secretary of State said yesterday her primary responsibility was to look after the safety of diplomatic missions overseas, and she cared deeply about the deaths of ambassador Chris Stevens and three staff. "I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha," Mrs Clinton said in Peru."

For cryin' out loud, it IS her fault. Arrest her for criminally negligent homicide. It would be her fault if there was no election this year. She is responsible for the State Department. It was her decision. Obama appointed her because she could do the job and make those kind of decisions.

But there are two issues here. The murders and the cover-up.

Her taking responsibility for what happened doesn't resolve why SHE publicly lied about a video 3 TIMES, why Obama kept lying about it, Carney lied about it, Biden lied about it and why Susan Rice did it 5 times on 5 different Sunday shows days after. Someone still needs to ask Mrs Clinton, "With your State Dept monitoring what was happening at the embassy in real time, and knowing almost immediately that it was a planned attack, what intelligence report told you it was a spontaneous crowd reacting to some Internet video that prompted you to make 3 speeches saying the video was the reason including the second time you did it in front of the families of the desceased?" Tell us. You allowed some guy that made a video to be taken into custody, for cryin' out loud and have his life threatened plus you stirred up a hornets nest in other places around the world by repeating it over and over.

And the second question is, "When did you tell the President?" He was with you at the ceremony for the 4 murdered and you both were still blaming a video. If you wanted to protect his political self, why did you allow him to keep telling something that wasn't true to the American public? You mean to tell us now, that when the Ambassador was murdered you didn't tell him what your lyin' eyes was seeing? What we all knew the next day? When did you get around to telling the families the truth?

Very nice of Hillary to fall on the sword...somebody has to...

There is a very simple reason why everybody has lied about it.

Security and lack of forethought may have been the State Dept's fault, but the buck always stops at the WH. Always has been that way, and always will. The fact remains that Obama's foreign policy led directly to the fiasco of Libya (as it relates to US involvement). We weakened that nation and created fertile soil for Al Qaeda. Having Hillary do the honorable thing is a band-aid on a major gash. We need to stop nation-building and thinking we have the right to jump into every nation's internal matters. All the Democrats can hope for now is that Romney will make another blunder before election day to swing it back the other direction (probability is high). This is election is about who can paint themselves as the least incompetent.

This is at least the third thread started on this topic, the other two, (or more) have been combined here: Hillary has officially been tossed under the bus

When did she change her mind about the responsibility of the President? Why would she do this.

But that is incorrect. She says it is her fault now, right? So now let's hear her confess to the cover-up being her fault, too...unless it's not.

See post #274 in the thread I linked to, at least two other threads have been combined on this subject into the thread I linked to.

Its good to see a moment of truth, but I wonder how this will effect her ability to run in 2016. You know the GOP is going to use this against her if she runs. Hell, some people are already trying to make up stories about sodomy now.
