I saw it a few days ago. Daniel Day-Lewis and the entire cast was phenomenal. It won't keep your attention if you need car chases and explosions every ten minutes, but definitely an Oscar-contender.

Considering that TNT was invented in 1863 they could have had explosions in the movie, but since the Civil War was before automobiles were invented I would only expect horse and buggy chases. While not necessary every ten minutes, to be a good movie it should have an explosion or a chase at least every 12.5 minutes.
Doesn't really matter which part of that book it's based on. Doris Kearns Goodwin is an admitted plagarist and card carrying member of the Lincoln Cult. If you want a truthful look at Lincoln, get that DiLorenzo book.
You sound exactly like a soviet era propaganda artist, except your side is the neo-confederate cause.
For everyone recommending the quacko phony history book by DiLorenzo, please take a look at the following review by the Claremont Institute. This institute is a well known very conservative think tank.
and here is another one from a scholar at the same institute:
and a quote from the article
"These examples barely begin to sketch the real political world in which Abraham Lincoln exercised his statesmanship. It is a world of which DiLorenzo appears to be almost wholly ignorant. His unreal Lincoln inhabits an unreal world, so crudely and tendentiously drawn as to beggar belief. One wonders if the libertarian neo-Confederates have run out of front-line troops. In this screed, at any rate, they have sent a giddy, careless, half-educated boy to do a man's job. And it shows."
Anyone who endorses DiLorenzo, or Lew Rockwell, are either outright racists, or clueless as to who those two guys really are. Lew Rockwell wrote the racist articles in Ron Pauls newsletter in the 1990's.
Lincoln is simply one of the greatest US presidents, and the vast, vast majority of legitimate historians agree.
I want to see it. I lived in Illinois for seven years, and Lincoln is still very big there. He walked where we walked. Every pol in Illinois feels over-shadowed by Lincoln.
No. I won't see it and No it won't be historically accurate. Lincoln was a racist and most people realize that he didn't care about the slaves it was just a political opportunity and he took it.

Go back under the rock you crawled out from. Better yet, go read a real history book. Your wholly ignorant of the real historical facts.
Btw, if Lincoln was a racist, may I ask what jefferson davis, robert e lee, stephens, calhoun, and the rest of the despicable southern ilk were? They would be quite comfortable hanging out with Nazis.
From the Vice President of the Confederacy speaking about your beloved confederacy:
"Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and moral condition."
