If you'd actually spend a little time in search of facts you'd learn the price traditionally drops every fall as winter blends are less costly to produce and there is less demand, I guess ya missed Econ 101, eh?

The problem with public lands is not that oil companies can't get permits, the problem is that they have the permits, but they won't drill. There are tens of millions of acres of land already leased out to oil companies, but they refuse to drill.

After a drumbeat of complaints from energy companies that the Obama administration is blocking domestic oil and gas production, the Interior department released a report claiming that U.S. oil and gas producers are sitting on millions of acres of idle government land leases.

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar says that if producers were sincere about wanting to increase energy production, they would activate millions of acres of public land already leased to them. What should they be doing on that land? Drilling.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Salazar says the administration wants companies "to develop the tens of millions of acres they've already leased but have left sitting idle."

as usual, you listen to left wing kooks and dont have a clue what you're talking about.

They ALWAYS sit on millions of acres, because there is a delay between when they get a permit, and when drilled.

Note the pattern, the drilling permis and wells drilled follow the same pattern.

The largest single factor affecting oil price is the type of vehicles people in the US drive.
If you look around you on your commute, you will notice the Expeditions, Tahoe’s, Escalades and other 12mpg. vehicles that filled the freeways in the early 2000's are for the most part gone and replaced by Camry’s, Priuses, Fusions, and Optima's. The 12mpg vehicles are being replaced by 30mpg vehicles.
This is the same pattern we saw in the 80's which resulted in $1.00 a gallon gas in the 90's. The effect of this change will be seen in years to come.
If you had predicted in the 80's that people would go back to driving 12 mpg vehicles like in the 70's no one would believe it.
It is all a cycle, excess results in austerity, and austerity results in excesses.

It goes up and down. For example in August 2008 it was $4.18 (many forget) and by December it was around $2.00. Of course back then the economy was on a free-fall and the price of oil was dropping like a rock.

Oil companies haven't been using the permits they already have for drilling on public lands. It doesn't surprise me that some people care so little about our public lands that they'd let greety, record-profit earning companies ruin more of them. Yes, that's the GOP way ... big government. Count me amongst Americans who love this country, and our values ... and our heritage. Sorry more people don't consider themselves similarly.

Funny how it took a Democratic President to make this happen.
