I'm not sure about a study, but yeah, I know several registered republicans who smoke marijuana. And honestly, they are far more enjoyable to be around when they do.

From my local area, fiscal conservative thinkers don't mind people smoking weed (and support taxing it of course). Social conservatives on the other hand basicall look at it as a "sin" in a way and most are against legalization.

It was a Progressive social engineering idea, for alcohol prohibition, as it has been for any mind altering drug.

As for pot, it was the wood pulp and forestry lobby, that had it made illegal, when it use to be a law, that every property owner, grew hemp. The US Constitution is composed on Hemp. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin are documented, smoking pot.

The question was about Republicans.

I think we all knew Clinton was lying when he said that.

I think you would be shocked at some of the people that really smoke pot but do not advertise it. I know several business owners, a couple of lawyers, some bankers, a couple of accountants, several realtors, and even a couple of higher ranking people in the postal service that all smoke or used to smoke weed.

I'm a Republican, but I'm fairly liberal on a lot of social issues. I have never, nor do I ever plan on smoking pot. I do, however, support the decriminalization and regulation of taxed marijuana. I don't feel it should be much different than alcohol or cigarettes; regulated and taxed in the same way.
