Fairfax, VA – Virginia Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-11) shocked constituents by suggesting that military Veterans are unqualified to serve in Congress because their deployments prevent them from putting “sweat equity” into the districts they hope to serve in Congress.
His opponent responded:
"Our country’s Veterans and career first responders don’t just have sweat equity in their community, they have blood equity in America”
From the Las Vegas TSG Business News article quoted above:
Quote:
In an October 22nd Washington Post interview, Connolly “dismisses Perkins as unqualified” for Congress, despite Colonel Perkins’ many leadership assignments that included command of a Special Forces Battalion of over six-hundred men, and numerous combat deployments.
and searched for the word "unqualified." It appears exactly one time in the article - here is exactly what appeared:

If Connolly is worried, he isn’t showing it. He dismisses Perkins as unqualified, based on what he calls his failure since leaving the Army to become civically engaged in the 11th District.
So Connolly isn't saying, as the OP states, that veterans are unqualified to serve in Congress - as far as I can tell, this is something Connolly has NEVER said, and he certainly didn't say it in the Washington Post article upon which the Las Vegas TSG Business News article is based. And nowhere does he say that his opponent -- or anyone else -- is unqualified to serve in Congress due to his military service. Connolly is saying that his opponent is unqualified based on his not getting involved in his Congressional district since leaving the military.
That's a huge difference, but I'm sure that it will nevertheless escape many people.
Next Tuesday I get to vote for Connolly again. I'm looking forward to it.
The "Las Vegas Trade Show Guide" is not an actual news site. It is a site for posting press releases. What you saw is a Perkins press release pretending to be a real news story. There is even a direct link to make a contribution to Perkins. Simple minds are easy to dupe.

Nuance. Thanks...i figured that the OP posted a load of bull.
Moreover, i can't stand this stupid idea that retired military ar ALWAYS better qualified than everyone else is for elected office.
Thank you for your always wonderful, well-reasoned responses. I cannot stand these unintelligent, misinformation spewers on this board. It makes me fear for the education levels in our country.
