The president has a right if not a obligation to servey the damage. Romney is t the president yet and shouldnt be there unless hes helping out. Serveying is for the guy in office.
Why? Stay the hell outta the way. All these dignitaries do is get in folks way. Stay where you at and pretend you care from there.
Christie is actually acting like a mature adult for once. Romney had better not turn this disaster into a photo op. People are truly suffering. The focus should be on meeting their needs not on serving as fodder for Romney's search for power.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg told residents at a Tuesday night briefing that he asked President Obama not to visit the storm-stricken city to view the devastation caused by Sandy. "We'd love to have him, but we've got lots of things to do," Bloomberg said, adding that the president's planned trip to New Jersey Wednesday is "fine."
Just a bunch of Republicans (some, not all mind you) trying to politicize this and use this as a reason to demonize the Democrats because they're fearful that Romney might lose this election come next week.
Hell, Obama can lose this thing and the left will blame Sandy for it!
If anyone is going to say "adios" (see what I did there A&M Indie? You're not clever, kid) to anybody, it'll be Romney because Gov. Christie will NOT survey the damage with him!
Put all this political BS aside and worry about your FELLOW AMERICANS, Republicans. Oh, but wait - you only care for other Repubs, huh?
The whole lot of you Right Wing Nut Jobs on this board (A&M Indie) make this Moderate/Independent sick. Get over yourselves.

This is actually the best comment yet. I've been through too many hurricanes - lost two houses - when I lived in the Outer Banks. There was NOTHING worse than when the President and/or VP would come and 'tour'. We're trying to clean up, get information, and just figure out our next steps. They come through and close roads (often the only ones left that ARE open), act like you're a criminal because you just want to go from point A to point B, and let's not get started on the following gaggle of reporters. Ugh. What they need at this point is ice, water, shelter, and strong police and/or national guard to keep out the hurricane 'tourists' and looters.
Hardest thing after a hurricane is the lack of information. No power, no phones, no ability to call insurance agents, etc, etc. You find out things through the grapevine. Having the politician circus added to that mess just makes things even worse.
This is only remotely related to politics as the Presidents "job" is to respond whereas Romney
will get pleanty of chances as the world's catastropic events increase in degrees . Obama has
done a good job communicating with the New Jersey governor who's state is devastated. Mitt
is not the leader at present and has relegated himself to generating aid ,which is all our non
presidental roles if nothing else donating to the American Red Cross.

The '93 floods we were a sandbaggin away and word came down old Bubba wanted to get his fat face in a shot so they sent everybody off to a field for an hour or so as they got all the press core lined up and he grabs his shovel and then off they go. It is quite ridiculous. Some folks are still waiting on FEMA to help from those floods too around these parts. lol
1... Obama is about to spend a ton of other peoples money (OURS), and that's what he seems to do best anyway. Helping the people in those states is a good thing. Finally, he gets to spend OUR money wisely.
2... Romney is already gathering his forces to bring in food, water and supplies. If anyone knows anything about Mormons... this is what they excell at! Mormons know how to handle disaster relief BIG TIME! They were the first on-scene after Katrina, 2 days before FEMA.

I guess you missed that he's already filling semi's full of food and has turned off his campaigning. The only thing he's doing is rallying support for the people that need help.
It was Rahm Emanuel (Obama's main man) that said "you never want a good disaster to go to waste", so give credit where credit is due. The photo-ops are the Chicago way of doing things.
