Call it anything that fits a correct definition of the word you use. Obviously, this thread is just an emotional plea for everyone to agree with your opinion. Sorry, but not everyone does.

I didn't see any substitutions in this thread. OP asked what people think murder is, but then the real agenda came out with the second part of the opening post about abortion. Several people noted that, when used correctly, the term abortion cannot apply to abortion. It has nothing to do with right and wrong, other than right and wrong word usage and definitions. If words are not used according to their accepted definitions, communication limited to written words (like in a forum) becomes exponentially more difficult.

Stopping a beating heart is murder???? We have medications that can stop someone's heart in the operating room and then we can restart it at a later time and they will still be alive.

Where are you people getting this???

Murder is unlawfully taking the life of another human being.

Abortion is legal and is not murder.

Like I stated in the other recent abortion thread, why don't you focus your energy into encouraging contraceptive use or providing funds for people who cannot afford to pay for them AND who want them - tubal ligations and vasectomies. That will stop abortions and you can have something to put your energy into instead of bickering back and forth about trying to stop people from having sex and whether or not a heart stopping is equal to murder.

No. I say we allow abortion in times of harm to either mother or child or in cases of rape, incest or mental or physical problems with child.

Ron Paul is pro life and is very libertarian...control...hm you mean a woman murdering her child who has no choice in the matter...that is controlling the outcome of life...interesting...you only look at it from your point of view..

I think that this thread aptly demonstrate the simplistic thought processes by a number of C-D members. I find it painful to watch and cannot possibly fathom how people lack the ability for even the slightest engagement of complex thought.

When a human being is intentionally deprived of their ability to live, that constitutes murder.

Example: Abortion

The legal definition of murder: "The unlawful killing of another human being with malice aforethought."

Abortion does not fit that definition and therefore can not be deemed murder.

So that means if you hunt, you are a murderer since you you are stopping a heart of an innocent life.
