How about comparing it to 2004, 2000, 1996 or 1988. Anything compared to 2008 will be better, except unemployment and people on food stamps... oh and family wealth, savings, and income... and cost of living, fuel, food, clothing, but other than that, yes I guess things are better than 2008.
Personalized gifts, plushies, teddy bears...etc We're optimistic though and just took delivery of a 1/2 container of custom bears. We have literally emptied our bank accounts in the hope that this economy will wake up. Optimism is a virtue.
Good luck. I'm hoping your business gets a lot better.
Ok. So all the Alum and family are wealthy? I see college kids at games too.
Home games yes. Students get a break or even free entry to home games.
I would say anyone flying to a game in Dallas must be. The middle class earn 30-50k a year... do you honestly believe they are spending $10k to fly their family in for a college football game?
I don't think so at least for me ...being unemployeed.
Many people choose to stay unemployed, simply because their UE Compensation is greater than the wages they'll receive for a new job.
I'm not saying that is the case with you, but that this is the supposed reason people are unemployed or under employed.
Shortly after 2001, I was leased to a transportation company in a owner/operator situation. The fuel prices were rising, the company was collecting fuel surcharges from their clients and not passing it onto the O/O's. When I asked the operations manager about it, he replied some money was better than no money, so I signed a lease with another transport company and made better bucks.
The unemployment rate just went up again back to 7.9% for October. The country is in debt and the Feds continue to print money as if that will help, but instead it only devalues the dollar. What are you seeing that says our economy is improving?
Jobless claims are way down, this quarters employment reports were fairly good, orders are up for our corp throughout its several dozen entities, and most importantly IMO as a leading indicator, I know several corps who have INCREASED their incentive programs (bonus levels) versus what was offered for the same positions just 2 years ago. They are starting to get first choice candidates turning them down. That is vital, for a good economy.
