Polls suggest that the initiatives have a decent chance of passing in Washington and Colorado (Oregon is a longer shot).

The impact on Mexico could be profound. Between 40% and 70% of American pot is reckoned to be grown in Mexico. According to a recent study (in Spanish) by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO), a think-tank in Mexico City, the American marijuana business brings in about $2 billion a year to Mexico's drug traffickers. That makes it almost as important to their business as the cocaine trade, which is worth about $2.4 billion."

Of course, it would also deal a huge blow to the prisons industry, the DEA and local sheriffs departments, which is the main reason it hasn't happened yet.
The Trump: closing the border would deal a huge blow to Mexico's drug traffickers. Of course, it would also deal a huge blow to the prisons industry, the DEA and local sheriffs departments, which is the main reason it hasn't happened yet.

Close the border and cartels would just charge more for the drugs they produce.

It would probably increase their profits.

Most weed distributed here is actually grown in the good old US of A.

You're probably thinking of meth and heroin. This is the problem with people uneducated about drugs lumping them all together.

Why do you think they use smuggling tunnels today

You can build a wall, and they would simply continue to use the tunnels.

With the proper equipment in place, tunnels can be located and new tunnels can be detected during construction. Will we ever be able to completely stop the flow? Probably not, but we can significantly reduce the numbers in several ways. A wall is just one means. As I have stated before. Severe penalties for anyone hiring an illegal. (I am thinking 200K per illegal found in your employment). Cut off all social welfare benefits to illegals. Pass legislation to make it illegal to rent or sell property to an illegal. When deporting illegals, deport them to Mexico City, not back to the border. Make it less attractive as an option for them to cross the border and not only will fewer cross, but more will leave on their own.

This is about drug smuggling. Anyone who thinks building a wall will stop it has been smoking too much crack. And no, it won't stop illegal immigration either.
