Actually Reagan decided to change parties when he was president of the actors union. They wanted to strike and he was against it. One union member said they would throw acid in his face if he didn't go along with them and he would lose his career. Unions can be thugs. Right then Reagan learned how the Dems operated and wanted nothing to do with it.
