Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday that he will try to push through a change to Senate rules that would limit the GOP’s ability to filibuster bills.
Speaking in the wake of Tuesday’s election, which boosted Senate Democrats’ numbers slightly, Mr. Reid said he won’t end filibusters altogether but that the rules need to change so that the minority party cannot use the legislative blocking tool as often.
“I think that the rules have been abused and that we’re going to work to change them,” he told reporters. “Were not going to do away with the filibuster but we’re going to make the Senate a more meaningful place.”

Typical of the Left wing party. Don't like the rules or you can't play by them? CHANGE THEM!
I'm a democrat and I hate this idea. We're not always going to be in control of the senate and we would need those filibusters to stop any legislation we deem to be extreme.
Why doesn't Reid just declare that no Republican votes count. Only Democrat votes count.
And then ignore anything coming from the house.
Let the Dem Senate start generating spending bills. I'm sure Obama and the DOJ will cover him.

As much as you want to blame harry reid, the house is just as responsible. They can easily send over as many bills as they want without debate from democrats because they have the majority. If you want the senate to do their job, the house has to theirs also, and quit creating bills that is soaked in republican policies.
Don't limit actual filibusters. A filibuster is an important part of our political system.
Just eliminate these phony de-facto filibusters that were so abused recently (where a senator can just say they're filibustering, without actually doing it), and make it so that if someone wants to filibuster, it has to be a REAL filibuster, and they have to actually stand up there and keep speaking.
I think they get a lot more attention that way, take a lot more conviction to pull off, and it doesn't just become an easy way to bog down legislation with technicalities.
The main problem is the overuse of the filibuster, 25 years ago there wasn't a tenth of the use of it as senators would go across the isle and work on the legislation to get it to their satisfaction. Now because of party dogma the filibuster is being abused and everyday Senate work cannot get done. The main example of this is federal judiciary vacancies, Paul has filibustered multiple vacancies until he gets his way on other pieces of legislation. 25 years ago he would have received an earful from an elder statesman. Here are some of his greatest hits...
The filibuster has been abused since Obama took office and that is why Congress has a pathetic approval rating. The only representative that held a genuine and meaningful filibuster was Bernie Sanders, who actually gave a filibuster worthy of a true Statesman.
The GOP merely used the filibuster as a tool for spiteful self-serving obstruction.
