I guess Obama's upcoming amnesty has its perks.

It's one of the poorest regions in the United States but there are regions in South Dakota where the people are predominately Native Americans and Kentucky where the people are predominately white where the people are just as poor.

When will conservatives stop racializing poverty?

Most often people are poor because they lack the educational opportunities, or job skills or they live in areas where economic development isn't sufficient enough to employ enough people. It doesn't matter where in the world you go if you find these conditions you find poverty.

The Rio Grand valley is probably 99% Hispanic to begin with so Hispanics are actually under represented on the welfare rolls.

BTW see the race baiting in the OP? This is why his choose party isn't going to win the next national election. This sort of a racist stuff pisses off Hispanics just like the right wing already pissed off blacks and then they wonder why those groups don't vote for them. It's hilarious to see how clueless these people are.

So let's see... the Valley is 89% Hispanic but only 25% of all residents are on welfare (no data on how many of those welfare recipients are Hispanic).

Which means that the vast majority of Hispanics in the Valley are not on welfare. This is news?

Have you read the article.

Some of these people driving around in nice SUV's and still receiving assistance.

How many people live in poverty with SUV's?

I'll tell you what, cutoff all assistance to all indigent people in America. No more food stamps, Medicaid, phones and housing. How will you deal with the aftermath?

Where is the race baiting?

The town is mostly hispanic & many are using the welfare system. Somethings wrong with productivity.

That is why many hispanics voted a socialist in.

Maybe they would go back home to Mexico. Would that really be so terrible?

It's not just the welfare which liberals mean to include only TANF, it's the foodstamps, free government housing, Medicaid, free meals at schools and much more.

Even liberals must realize by now that in spite of many billions of dollars thrown at the anti-poverty program, we now have more people living in poverty than ever and impoverished are pouring over the borders. When the impovished class is growing by leaps and bounds, it's time to admit all this government spending is a waste, it is not solving the problem at all.
