What you should know, however, is that Einstein had to start with assumptions, based on observations, and prove or disprove based on analysis. I try to do that, and people like you, whose arguments quickly go south, are all the evidence I need.

We don't elect government for sharing opinions. You visit C-D for that.

But, it appears our government now is for shaping opinions (called propaganda) and some elect government based on who is pro-gay. Big issue, that. For some, the ONLY issue. And, going back to the OP, single-issue voters (whatever the issue) could be viewed as small minded, immature, or selfish.

I maintain the country faces far bigger problems and pandering to single issue voters is not the solution.

Agreed. If it wasn't for all the single issue pro-gay young voters we would now have President Elect Romney. Minority demographics such as blacks and Hispanics didn't support Obama any more than they have in elections past. It was the pro-gay youth who made the difference and now we will all pay.

Obama is meeting today with union and progressive leaders to hear their insights about how to manage the federal deficit.

Then, he'll meet with selected CEOs.

Those are good moves. He'll listen and make everyone feel they are part of the solution (to get buy-in); I can't help but feel it's all for show. Some might call it pandering...

Because, when it's all done with, he'll probably go ahead and do what he's already decided to do. He hasn't built a reputation for being a willing listener, especially for inputs from the other side.

I hope I'm wrong.

[quote=southward bound;26936987]I think the idea was that liberal thinking leads to many of these ills. Not all liberals are gay, nor are all gays liberal.

That's true, just like not all conservatives dislike gays. The OP, however, seems to be OBSESSED with disliking gays. It's sad.

Sure, the "pro-gay" vote made Obama win by over 100 electoral college votes

You know what...I posters here keep saying that, but I just don't see it in the original post.

Young people were 19% of the electorate and they voted almost entirely for Obama. The reasoning? They want the hip, cool, pro-gay candidate.

I tend to believe that the majority of the younger voters lost to the Obama coalition aren't so much "pro-gay" as suspicious of authority, and resentful toward the dogmatic Evangelicals and other traditionalists who hijacked the Republican agenda early in the campaign; what they faled to see is that the Democratic coalition's adaptation of the "New Sensitivity", and the concept of the nanny-state amounts to the same thing.
