Never too late to see the light. As we say in Danish - "When the Devil got old, he joined a convent".

I realized years ago that trick-down economics doesn't actually trickle. You usually have to force it with minimum wage laws and the like.

Unfortunately, the reverse of trickle-down economics will probably work extremely well. You've already added a huge tax burden to corporations with Obamacare. Add more taxes to wealthy Americans and those wealthy Americans start downsizing work forces so they can remain competitive and purely because they are greedy.

How do you raise taxes on the rich without it hurting the middle class and poor? Figure that out and I frankly don't feel sorry for the ridiculously wealthy ... as long as we don't get stupid and turn it into Socialism/Communism. The poorer citizens are easy to whip into a "take back what the rich have stolen from you" frenzy, even when you're not trying to.

Because once they cut down their workforce, they have less of a market share.

They have less of a market share, they make less money.

They make less money, they start trying to increase market share.

To increase market share, they add employees.

Basically: no millionaire is just going to throw his hands up in the air and say, "I give up! Forget this! If my annual personal growth is 4% instead of 5%, I'm closing up shop and going on welfare," no matter how many blowhards claim that's exactly what they'll do.

Remember, Kristol is a foreign policy Republican -- he'd be in favor of 100% taxation on billionaires and mandatory gay marriage, so long as it meant we invaded a new country every couple of years.

Isn't it also possible that they will also raise prices instead of adding employee's?
