Considering most other religions are taught in world history class, I see no issue with this.

I am sure there would be outrage if the bible was part of social studies & history.

Can't tell that to people who never went to school.

I'm against religion being taught to anyone, let alone schoolchildren.

That said, Sikh's are pretty cool. At least they don't attempt to legislate their faith into law unlike those other folks.

Hm, so there is a large Sikh population in the area that has been there for quite a while.

Nonetheless, those who follow Sikh belief are often discriminated against, face undue scrutiny, seem suspicious, and are generally met with a lack of understanding that results in bullying and harassment.

The schools in the area believe and hope that one way to address such issues is by educating students about this rather unknown religious belief.

Somehow, wanting to resolve conflict or social issues by means of education and exposure is an affront to some of you guys.

Yeah, got it. Is that the new conservative mantra? Stick your head in the sand, refuse any and all education as liberal brainwashing, and be upset that there are alternatives to your own religious belief system?

Geez, you guys are sad.

As an atheist, I have no problem with the HISTORY of all religions being taught in schools as long as none of their supernatural claims are taught as fact or involved in science class/conversations in any way.

Sikh's happen to be a growing population in this country. As evidenced by the shooting at that Sikh temple recently by a nutcase that thought they were muslims, education might not be a bad thing. Education's actually never a bad thing.
