As oil rises, freight costs hurt China's manufacurers more than those in the U.S. That alone can make the difference in where an order is placed.

The more Green Energy we see, the more competitive America will become. Oil needs to be dying a steady death.

Green energy is a farce.

Explain to everyone here on planet Earth in the realm of reality where you're going to get an energy source that shoves a few 100 million years worth of electromagnetic radiation into a sustainable solution to our energy needs for a sustainable growth.

After you explain it you can go on The Circuit™ and make yourself extraordinary rich and you can finally give up your penis envy.

The number of people seeking unemployment benefits surged to the highest level in 18 months because of Superstorm Sandy

Superstorm Sandy drove the number of people seeking unemployment benefits up to a seasonally adjusted 439,000 last week, the highest level in 18 months.

The Labor Department says applications increased by 78,000 because a large number of applications were filed in states damaged by the storm. People can claim unemployment benefits if their workplaces close and they don't get paid.

The storm may distort claims for another two weeks, the department has said. The four-week average of applications, a less volatile number, increased to 383,750.

Sal Guatieri, an economist at BMO Capital Markets, said that a similar jump in applications occurred after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

"We should see a full retracement of this increase in coming weeks," he said. Applications were declining before the storm, he added, "though levels are consistent with moderate, rather than strong, job growth."

The four-week average of applications, a less volatile number, increased to 383,750.

Superstorm Sandy hit the East Coast on Oct. 29 and disrupted businesses from North Carolina to Maine. The storm also cut power to roughly 8.5 million homes and businesses in 10 states. Some are still without power.

Denmark, Germany, and Belgium, to name a few, are seriously investing in solar energy as infrastructure. Germany's biggest installation produces as much electricity as 20 nuclear generating stations.

Italy is moving more into wind power, and putting turbines into unused spaces such as under bridges.

We have an inexhaustible supply of sun, wind, wave, and geothermal power available to us, and we have the technology to harness it. Electric automobiles MUST be the next generation of vehicles if we ever hope to be free of dependence on foreign oil.

Solar works best along the southern part of the United States. Wind can power the midwest and west. Generating stations mounted underwater off both coasts will produce as long as they last. The only cost is the line losses moving the electricity produced through a grid to distant locations.

The temperature of the earth a few feet below the surface is a constant 58 degrees. All you need is a simple fan to pull cold air in for air conditioning in the summer, or 58 degree air as a base in the winter. If it is 30 degrees outside and you want the temperature of our home to be 70 degrees, there is a substantial savings between heating a differential of 12 degrees as opposed to 40.

Oil is not infinitely sustainable, nor is it cheap or clean like its competetion. Green Energy will happen.

There are currently 65 commercially operating nuclear power plants with 104 nuclear reactors in 31 states around the country. Thirty-six of the plants have two or more reactors. These plants have generated about 20% of U.S. electricity each year since 1991. The Palo Verde plant in Arizona has 3 reactors and the largest combined generating capacity of 3,942 Megawatts (MW) in 2010. Fort Calhoun in Nebraska has the smallest capacity with a single reactor at 478 Megawatts (MW) in 2010.
That would be you failing on an epic scale...

And wtf are you going to do with 520 nuclear generators worth of waste?

Let us not forget that liberals want cake, frosting, and all sorts of velvet'ness but don't want tp have to pay for one GD iota of it (Yucca Mountain).

That's falls in line perfectly with their other (moving) goal post though like wanting more and more electric cars but wanting less and less coal fired power plants.

When are you *******s going to get it together?

I guess Mary Kay is suppose to start issuing "neon green" Cadillacs...

Let me see if I can explain this in layman's terms.

WTF are you going to find 299,999,999 suns to power your intellectually dishonest fantasy?

Oh, I know, you're going to do it through tiered programs and shat...

I'm here for you.

So you say we have 100 years left or so of untapped resources.

We'll that means we're using 1% of available resources.

But let's get crazy and say we have 1,000 years of oil resources left.

You'll only need 299,999 suns to sustain your "progress" and you'll never be able to eat oil to "preserve" your race like you're an MSG freak.

You forget - I live in South Carolina where nuclear waste is stored now. There are a lot of concerns about the long-term viability of storage methods and the facility itself. There have been incidents in the past of leakage into the Savannah River. I worked for a pressure vessel manufacturer for a few years that built hundreds of demineralizer tanks for Chem Nuclear when they managed the site. I am not completely ignorant about nuclear waste.

The solar electrical generating plant in Germany produces 22 gigawatts per hour. Check out the capacity of an average nuclear-powered plant and you will see what that means in real terms.

Why would you want to use coal, oil, or nuclear power when you could produce all the electricity you need cleanly and efficiently? There is no reason I can think of. Did I overlook something?

Anyone that uses the term "*******s" is never taken very seriously. It's absolutely ridiculous to add a suffix to a word that has no relationship to the root word. In fact "Repubtard" makes more sense due to the r-e at the beginning of the word "Republican" and the r-e at the beginning of the word "Retard". That being said, it's just very immature.
