the only way to stop a one party system from happening is for the republicans to get on board with the new american demographics... parties are in the business of getting votes... go win votes and be a viable alternative... ditch the crazy jesus crowd it's not relevant in politics, and take on issues that matter more minority groups... be a champion for civil rights and workers rights... the demise of the republican party this election is it's own fault, and don't sit here and act like the party wasn't plotting and scheming in their own right for votes and influence. the republican party is even more prone to the plotting and scheming than the democrats, the problem is their plan blew up in their face this time and they have egg all over themselves. Quit plotting and scheming and start appealing!
you're the party of lincoln! start acting like it!
If it's made clear to the Christian Right that the only role for them in a new Republican coalition is on a back bench, then they're likely to leave, but only for a while. The mediocrity and blind obedience shown by Obama and Clinton's stooges on the Supreme Court will demonstrate that their dogmatism has limited them to two choices -- little hope for gain, or sure losses.
On the other hand, virtually all of those remaining within the conservative coalition, from Libertarian and Objectivist thinkers to the self-employed who are the primary target in the Democrats' fiscal crosshairs, can find common ground, and can make it clear both to themselves and the rest of the electorate that they understand the mechnisms of de facto collectivization, and can, and will defend themselves via a variety of legal means.
We're going deeper and deeper into uncharted economic territory, and both sides appear poised for a struggle. Time to fasten the seat belts.

The OP proves that not only does he have no clue as to why the Republican Party is in such deep trouble in this country but also that he isn't even interested in finding real answers. Keep spewing such nonsense and the Republican Party will stay in the toilet.

Of the 50 states, congress and the presidency, Republicans hold 318 of 586 elected seats. That's 54.2% in case your math isn't great.
Trying to rewrite/ignore history or just sweeping it under that rug?

We already know who you'll try to blame, of course.

To all Americans, of every background, who saw beyond the short-sight, hate-mongering, and pure deceit, many thanks!
