Anyone know exactly what the Hostess employees are striking about? Is it low wages?

There were rumors that they gave themselves large raises right before filing bankruptcy, and it looked like salary manipulation to the BK court.

All of a sudden, they decided to work for $1 salary (probably in anticipation of fat bonuses).

Don't worry, I'm sure that they have been lining their pockets. The execs will make out like bandits.

Apparently the Bush tax cuts did not help the Hostess job creators.

Yeah we should be good little Republicans and only concern ourselves with the evil baby killing womenfolk and them heathens who have the nerve not to go to our church.

Not to mention that they've been raising their compensation during the time that their company has been failing.

What length WON'T some of you guys go to to not call a spade a spade when it comes to executive compensation at a failing company?

"We don't know for certain?" Get the hell out of here.
Hostess is implementing the Bain method; liquidate the company and skim off as much money as possible for the big boys. Its called a planned bankruptcy, something Romney knows a lot about.

Hostess management had already claimed that the strike would be responsible for the closings of specific plants—when it had already planned to close plants even if the workers accepted the cuts and stayed at work.

Our members know that the plans all along of the Wall Street investors currently in control of this company did not include the operation of Hostess Brands any longer than it takes to sell the company in whole—or in part—in a way that will maximize the profits of these vulture capitalists regardless of the impact on the workforce.

The latest tax avoidance scam of executives is to pay themselves a non-taxable salary but have huge stock options in the company with which they pay only the 15% tax rate. This is another Mitt Romney MO. Romney is a role model for companies to bilk employees and avoid taxes.

I knew there was a good bit of malfeasance going on when i first heard the story. I didn't even need to read it. It's the same old crap.

Not exactly, but i do know that they'd already given concessions in prior negotiations that were supposed to benefit the company and get it out of debt. Instead, the execs DOUBLED the debt. Moreover, they'd been raising executive compensation even while the company was tanking.

The workers have had enough. They know that it'll probably lead to job losses, but they're tired of being lied to and taken advantage of.
