Maybe one day our retirement accounts will be targeted?
I mean large amounts of money we have been hoarded tax free for decades!!!!! There are people now that need and could use that money while we just let it sit there collecting interest.

I've never met anyone (other than children) who needs to be reminded that we all die or that thinks saving money will make them live longer.

Ah, but nobody believes they will die tonight or tomorrow....it's ALWAYS way off in the future. And it's always somebody else first. The US is a very materialistic society; we worship youth, and old people worship cosmetic surgery. LOL Maybe if we just "look better" we can evade death.
I would suggest that maybe you should comtemplate death more often; it makes the present moment of life very rewarding.
Obviously you are misunderstanding. I did not say that EVERYBODY would not work if they didn't have to.
And your guess that the ONLY REASON people work is because they need the money is wrong as well.

Not true at all. Some places tax wealth. I used to live in GA and there was an annual tax on investments.
