I think you'd have less.

Probably a little less. Legalizing it is the right thing to do on principle.

"Selling is legal; [copulation] is legal. Why isn't selling [copulation] legal? You know, why should it be illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away. I can't follow the logic on that at all. Of all the things you can do to a person, giving someone an orgasm is hardly the worst thing in the world. In the army they give you a medal for spraying napalm on people. Civilian life, you go to jail for giving someone an orgasm." --George Carlin

Making the assumption that "regulation" means like it does in Nevada, where the workers need to get monthly tests by doctors. Then the answer is "much less."

Even in Nevada, most of the total sex that occurs is not with prostitutes, so the effect of legal prostitution on STD rates is probably a modest one. Nevada is not too far off the national average STD-wise.

I've been to a few countries where it's regulated and sex workers have to get checked and ... even have to show you their "I'm clean." card if you ask.

Probably no difference. People are already promiscuous today, whether they pay for it or not. The same people would be promiscuous then, and they'd engage in similarly risky behavior. Condoms and testing is already available everywhere.

About the same, I think, as laws are just words on a paper that have little impact on actual human behavior, other than a reward-punish influence.

prostitutes are not the reason for social diseases, look to people that copulate with virtual strangers as your source.

Most likely less. When ever anything like Abortion, prostitution or drugs go under ground and is unregulated, its always more dangerous and has many more deadly consequences. All one has to do is look back on the great failed experiment of Prohibition and see that all that did was to cause the deaths of many people through low quality alcohol or raise up the bosses like Capone and the Purple gang. Christians never seemed to learn the laws of unintended consequences.

I thought that was purpose of a prostitute, to have sex with a stranger for money.

I'd say it would go up. There would be regulation, but crackwhores or whatever will still be dirty crackwhores, but the number of people visiting prostitutes with go up dramatically. Percentage may go down but actual number of cases will likely go up.
