Isn't that the same city that had a whole bunch of people killed in a hotel fire some years ago because the smoke from a fire on one floor vented to every room? Maybe they don't have any codes there.
I couldn't tell you, I don't know how the codes there work.
No. They would have used a much more recognized building like Sears Tower, Empire State or WTC pre 9-11. The Hancock Building is not really a world wide known landmark.
You know what? The photo shows the Chicago skyline, well, a part of it, though shot from an unusual side. They just put the tower in there with Photoshop You can also see 900 North Michigan, Lake Point Tower, etc. Actually, I found a painting of the Chicago skyline, also made from that side:
This building will never ever work. And China surely knows that. They build some really cool stuff there like dams, speedy trains and The Big Wall of China but this thing is not something I see them doing.

The Chinese need to quit making copies of American buildings.
Hehe Although there was no copying whatsoever in this case, I am wondering if it would be legally OK to rebuild an entire skyline, I mean in terms of copyright etc. In Las Vegas they have several buildings copied from originals around the globe if I am not mistaken
