Okay, let's say that companies don't have to properly dispose of hazardous materials. They can just dump them anywhere they feel like. The cheapest cost to them would be their first option. If that material ends up making the people close by sick, the land contaminated, and wildlife destroyed that is a far larger cost than the small amount of money saved in the first place by getting rid of that environmental regulation.

They could still be sued in a court of law, for damages.....
It doesn't take the EPA to do that.

Um, is that a violation of private property? Now it's legal to kill people? My prob. Is govt is always moving the goal post on these regulations, always some environmental concern that requires moar laws.

Subsidized? What is subsidized is the freebie real estate give away. Take away public transportation and watch the real estate values in the city tank.

It they ever collected in property taxes the increase in value for infrastructure like this there would be fewer "subsidies".

Analysis on public transportation influences on real estate development in East Lansing - Springer
(1) the real estate, which is closer to public transportation, will have higher value than that is far from public transportation, and

Light-rail can turn into money train - The Denver Post
The closer a home is to the station, the more its value increases, according to the Your Castle analysis. Homes less than a half-mile from a station increased an average of 17.6 percent, while those 1 1/2 to 2 miles away increased just 0.1 percent on average. The data varied widely among stations, however.

Must be nice to be handed 35k on a 200k house.

Lots of infrastructure would be more affordable, but because of broken tax policy the full value cannot be realized.

Then why does local governamnt just pay for it. because it can't be jsutified by usership or cost be apssed on. Local city nerby has bus trnsport. It collected 300K i tiskets lat year. Its budget was 2.4 mllion ssplit evenly between local and federal governamtn funding. They are i process of decidig where to cut since they will be losing much of the fedewral funding. One perosn pointed out that its cheaper to pay for subsidised taxi for the riders than the buses. But I agree with those who say we need to quit subsiding many things because we can't afford to now.

Lets remove the driving subsidy too and then make the comparison again. Time to pay up for the road use.

And who cleans up the mess, while it's in court? Who pays the punitive damages and related costs when that company is out of business?

A rich Jewish guy that is bent on Socialism for everyone but him. I'm amazed that people keep voting these type of people into office despite the fact that they know how radical and corrupt they are going to be once they are in office.

If the laws/regulations have been taken off the books, then they don't have a case.

What does him being Jewish have anything to do with it? Also, Rahm is nowhere near the left wing of the Democratic Party, let alone an actually party that is left wing.
