I've read that as well. Besides, mandatory celibacy arose in the Middle Ages—under feudalism, where ownership of land was the key to wealth. That fact would seem to buttress the veracity of your explanation.

It is not just boys that are molested (they are a majority at about 90% of Catholic priests, but that is hardly "young boys only" and thus not a purely gay issue).

Update on the story in the OP (http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/10/14/gay.monsignor.ap/index.html?iref=newssearch - broken link): Now the priest is saying he isn't really gay, but was only pretending to be gay as part of his work. Since when does a priest pretend to be something the church says is sinful, simply so he can gather information about that sinful lifestyle? What kind of witness is that for the church, regardless of what it thinks about a particular lifestyle?
The Catholic church needs to clean house. They have lost millions on homosexual pedophile priests.
The story was about a priest soliciting gay sex from someone who was not identified as being a child or even underage. Yet you choose to imply that gay men are also pedophiles? Does that help fuel your disgust for gay people?

The Catholic Chruch has lost millions in lawsuits to young boys that were molested by gay priests. It has been in the news. I cannot imagine how you have missed it. This thread is about a Catholic gay priest. My comments are to point out that hidtorically gay priest have proven to be a total disaster for the Catholic Church.
