Get your head out of the sand. Black voted 95%+ for Democrats. Blacks are 13% of the population yet receive 30%+ of the welfare benefits. Hispanics voted 71% for Obama. This is a valid issue.

The premise of this thread is false from the start. My county is one of the 20 wealthiest counties in the country and it voted 70% for Romney. And it has previously been named the wealthiest county in the country when adjusted for cost of living, and also previously been deemed the most conservatively friendly county in the country.
My husband is a software engineer and an Independent, and he voted for Romney due to Obama's poor record over the past 4 years. And he said at his office there was much more support for Romney this year than Obama. Four years ago it was pretty equal.

A better question is, why do so many dumb people vote for Democrats?

Socialism has always been the tool of capitalism. Those that are "rich" do not take left and right wing politics seriously. If you want socialized medicine...The rich are all for it...They will continue to sell medical supplies..furnish hospitals...manufacture more drugs through big pharma...and socialism pacifies a populace making them compliant and submissive- easier to rule..,.Much like the military industrial complex...If you have shares in companies that manufacture war supplies you are going to be for war.

My head isn't in the sand, I just don't see how their race is relevant... my point was that Republicans also collect welfare, despite the right's insistence that only a "welfare bum" or stupid person would vote for Obama. And if you do want to bring race into the discussion, have you seen the stats on white welfare recipients? I'll give you a hint - it's not a small number!

And the same could be asked for Republicans... or did you think every Romney voter was a genius? So not the case, LOL.

Personally I think both sides are full of crap, but unfortunately we only have two valid choices at this time. The phrase "lesser of two evils" comes to mind.

Whites collect in the 30% range of total welfare benefits while being about 70% of the overall population. That means they are well underrepresented on the welfare roles as a percentage of the population.

Are there Republicans on welfare? Undoubtedly. Though I suspect most of the whites receiving welfare are voting Democrat too.

In the material world we live in the question should be, why do people vote in a partisan manner at all? Democracy is not a holy or perfect system. It is supposedly rule by the majority. The majority is not that smart. It is a "nice" system and makes as many people as possible feel that they have control over their political aspirations- but in the end it is all about creature comforts..about money..about a roof over your head - about food...peace and security.

You can have all the idealism you want but it will get down to survival. Democracy is and always will be flawed. Human nature has it that people want more than they need..Ego dictates that people want to be important and have status...it is about pride.

Remember a few years back when Hilary Clinton wanted to relocate but could not afford even the down payment for a suitable home befitting her new station in life? The Clintons were broke...but not anymore...even lefties can not resist luxury and status.

If the left was to totally dominate America a rich elite would form regardless...and in time they would be considered the evil right wing...Liberal ideology would be conserved and protected..They would evolve or shall I say de-evolve into conservatives. Few realize that the left is now the new right- and they will becomes just as selfish and self serving as their counterparts on the right.

You can't win..When Obama talks about change- It's not about some kind socialist redistribution of wealth..it is about the shifting of wealth. Look forward one decade once Obama and his family retire..They will live in a palace....not some commune where "we are all one".

Food for thought for you righties who continue to believe that only unemployed Obamaphone-receiving welfare mommas supported Obama.
There are plenty of people who grow up in liberal cities, go to liberal controlled K-12 schools, and then graduate from liberally dominated colleges and universities, and you are surprised that they come out as liberals?

I know some "smart" well educated liberals, who barely watch the news, and most of their news actually comes from watching Stewart, Colbert, Maher etc... I spoke with them at our family get together this past weekend.

One couple voted for Obama, and they knew nothing at all about current or recent news events. Their son worked at Walmart, and I asked their opinion on the Walmart walk-out for black Friday, and they never heard of it. The wife said "We don't really pay attention to anything but the local news anyway." So I inquired, "but you watch john Stewart and Bill Maher right?" To which they both immediately said "yes" and that they were really funny, and started relating some recent shows they did. The husband could tell you all about his football team stats, and players.

Being "smart" is all relative, because these two "smart" people were clueless and completely ignorant of politics, and yet they were a part of the vapid Obama voter crowd.

And Obama has created 15 million new Food Stamp recipients, so he has that feather in his cap. At least half of those 15 million are democrats, the others are independents and republicans.
