It is one thing to read an incorrect intelligence report and give a speech about it.

It is quite another thing to read an incorrect intelligence report and invade another country, spending hundreds of billions of dollars and costing hundreds of thousands of lives.

BTW,the election is over so you can put away your fake outrage over Benghazi. 4 dead in Libya vs. 4,500 dead in Iraq?

The Downing Street Memos :: The text
The Downing Street Memo has been discredited. Because the original was destroyed so anything about it is hearsay.

And I didn't say anything about Benghazi. You must be thinking of someone else.

What Bill Clinton believed or thought he knew matters not a iota with me. I've already mentioned that the biggest factor costing Hillary the Presidency was her vote in favor of the invasion of Iraq.

The fact remains that Cheney and his cohorts armed twisted the CIA into producing evidence that simply was not there. Which by the way is the topic of the thread.

Default Was it The Bush Administration or CIA That Mislead The Country on WMD in Iraq?

It was Dubya and his handlers (Cheney and Condi Rice) who cooked up this whole campaign of disinformation on Saddam's nonexistent WMDs to get public support for their oil war.

Funny thing, though...

When Bush nominated his Rice for secretary of state, McCain, Graham, Collins, and the rest of the GOP senators never even whispered about her role in that stinking mess.

I need to correct your post. She was National Security Advisor when she was playing the role of lying piece of .... with far greater access to the intelligence than the UN Ambassador John Negroponte - anybody even remember him?

Default Maybe you're too young to recall...

That was 15 years before Bush invaded.

Besides, the only weapon worthy of being called a WMD is nuclear. And Bush sure made that connection, as did Condi Rice. It was all bogus, as we've known for the past nine years now. Strange how the Pubs never held Condi's feet to fire for that one. But man oh man, are they spittle-spewing mad about Obama's Rice.

Then you must have voted against Pres. Obama in the recent election, since Hillary was his choice for Sec'y of State? Right?

Your characterization of Cheney is a complete distortion, undoubtedly partisan-driven.

(Cobra II, p. 144)

But remember the context of the time--virtually all, even Saddam's own people believed that he still had WMD. The real problem was that our intel was so bad. We had very little in the way of sources inside Iraq after 1998. We were dependent on sat. photos, which proved to be not always reliable. Early on it was thought that Saddam had been killed in his "bunker" outside Baghdad by an F117 attack. Later when ground forces got there, they found just an empty field that had been bombed--no bunker.

I don't know why I even bother, really. The left will just keep bitterly clinging to the partisan-driven distorted narrative for eternity.
