The Pubs never questioned Dubya tossing 4 trillion down the toilet in Iraq and Afghanistan. And they were all OK with him keeping those costs "off budget" during his entire term. Of course, all that debt became part of the budget in January of 2009.
Well gee, then we'll wait until Obama tosses $4 trillion down the toilet and call it even.
THEN maybe the two parties can sit down and get their act together.
Liberals can't comprehend that a ceiling can't be raised without busting a giant hole into it.
A ceiling signifies a limit - and liberals hate being told that they can't confiscate and spend other people's money.
They must really suck at calculus.
I don't know about the liberals, but centrists tend to feel debt should be constrained before it is incurred, not after. A debt ceiling should not even exist.
I think he has offered to do just that with the idiotic presentation he just made. He won't let it all go to hell because I don't think he wants the history books to show that he tried to force the Republicans to raise taxes, for him, without one damned thing given back about lessening spending. Will he go ahead, thereby proving he doesn't care about the nation and the people or will he finally back down. He has 31 days to decide in and I don't think he wants those who voted for him to see that he isn't what he told them he was.

They didn't get voted into office to cave into President Food Stamps' leftist agenda. They're there to counter that. If liberals won't lower taxes and cut spending, then there will be no jobs and no money. It's that simple.
