p.s. Roy. I've got some great news for you. Conservatives do not have the lock on Christianity.

Yes, the joyous news is there are millions of moderates and liberals who have accepted Christ as their savior! There are even Christians who aren't Americans. There are over two billion people on our planet who are Christians. Isn't all this just the most fabulous thing you've heard today?

2.2 billion Christians and growing... 200 million is still a big number.

At least my holiday doesn't result in people crying all over the media about how it's being attacked by a very small minority of the country. It's Christians who seemed threatened by Happy Holidays - no one else.

Nunnor wants strict, 100% conformity to his beliefs. Any differing beliefs or opinions threatens his faith. Which kind of contradicts the entire concept of "faith" to begin with.

Sure it doesn't. The whole point of changing Christmas to Holidays was to not offend Jews and atheists, especially Jews. Many Jews have been whining over seeing Christmas decorations in public, and not any menorahs. A local rabbi contacted the media and appeared on the news recently in West Milford, NJ because the town hall declined menorah on public yard when he saw Christmas tree and no menorahs. Poor rabbi wants to shovel his silly holiday when 98% don't celebrate it.

I don't know. Your message is not sounding very Christ-like to me. Sounding more like sour grapes.

Again - I recommend a Church Service or perhaps a service of Holy Communion to remind yourself of the 'reason for the season'.

I think you are losing sight of that while you are allowing your perception of others to steal your joy.

Exactly. That's exactly what all this whining about Christmas is about every year. Some people just can't deal with the fact that we have religious freedom in this country. It's not enough to simply be the overwhelming majority. It's not enough to be able to celebrate their holiday as they wish. They need to force it on absolutely everyone else and get government involved in preferring one religion to the exclusion of all others. Witness the outrage over a Rabbi wanting a menorah if Christians get to have multiple nativity scenes on public space, some of which include multiple camels. Apparently the nativity scenes are just fine but the Rabbi should shove it because 98% don't celebrate it (which is actually a lie in West Milford, which is about 7% Jewish).

They want everyone to believe exactly what they believe and to acknowledge their particular beliefs at all times, as if somehow the whole country will be smote by their deity if the guy behind the register doesn't say Merry Christmas.

Ah, the good ole' War on Christmas.

How many threads have you created about this yet, roy? I remember you already got the award for posting the earliest War on Christmas thread this year.

Alas, I will say that I think that the traditional Christmas has been replaced with commercialism and that is a shift I find rather sad. But then, Christianity simply usurped/hijacked Pagan and other traditions to make this holiday its own. Worse, traditional Christianity has also been replaced with a "we're better than you" attitude, something I doubt was Christ's intention.

Social evolution. Adapt or perish.
