In any case, just say hi or hello. No one will be offended by that.

That's what i do.
Never heard of Kwanzaa? Just how black are you? I'm kidding!

Make it a great Christmas for you and your dad. He'll appreciate it.

I think it's celebrated internationally.

Only for christians. It was a holiday for centuries before some pope declared it to be xmas.
You just spelled it xmas and I think you just pushed another button.

Personally, I don't care if you say Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas. When it is someone I don't know I usually say Happy Holidays as they may be Jewish.

Christmas is a national holiday celebrated by 96% of Americans. It is a Christian holiday to honor the birth of Christ.
No preference.

[the greeting, not the specific words, is what is important to me]

See, this is the main and sad part to favor the minority "poor" Jews who don't celebrate the national holiday, and now we are afraid greeting them with Merry Christmas and have to change the traditional greeting just for them. I wonder if they would do the same, which they don't in Israel.

It has nothing to do with being afraid, and everything to do with being polite.

Sure it does. How come at many stores when I get greeted with holidays despite knowing I celebrate Christmas due to wearing a big Christian cross?
